I would have expected Matt to post something on his blog, but he's had "the flu" for 2 or 3 days, and maybe he doesn't have time to update it, but I would think he'd make an announcement since "corporate doesn't have any control over it". Matt seemed to me to be bitter or at least aggressive to callers to his show on Friday, more so than normal, I thought it was just because he was sick. He would ask people to call him about their opinion on whether the Syracuse/Uconn game was "the best game ever", and would deride them if they didn't agree with him that it was.
On related notes, the Media Watch blog from the Omaha City Weekly is still giving fits when trying to display their blog entries, but one day prior to the "Matt Perrault Gone from Big Sports 590" entry, was an blog post describing how KXSP's competitor KOZN was #1 among men 25 to 54 years old. http://omahacityweekly.com/blog/2009/03/13/march-13-its-a-guy-thing Also from the Media Watch blog, the most recent entry that is displaying a story correctly hints at Petey Mac's departure from the show in the comment section. I don't think an afternoon Travis Justice show would work. When Trav is on from 4:00 to 6:00pm, I think he's calling from his TV station office so that he can get ready for the newscast right after the radio show.
i for one will miss matt. I like his show and he is a good guy. I don't agree with his opinion most of the time , but he isays what he feels and I will miss that.
It's always sad when someone loses their gig. Trust me, I work for the daily paper. I listened everyday on the way home. I'll miss him and trav.
I liked the show with Travis on it, I thought it was better than Matt by himself, or Trav by himself. Although JBG claims that they'll try to keep a local segment on the station, I highly doubt it. And if they actually told Matt that the reason they were getting rid of him WASN'T because of ratings, either they lied to him, or he's trying not to burn bridges. They were not selling many ads on BS590, and the ratings were terrible for a signal that strong.
i talked with matt. i believe what he has said to be true. as i said before i will miss his show, but hopefully wherever he lands will have streaming so i can listen.
