Milwaukee, Wis. – For the second straight year, TODAY’S TMJ4 Anchor Mike Jacobs was named “Journalist of the Year” by the Milwaukee Press Club.

“I’m honored to be recognized two years in a row,” said Mike, “I love my job and I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to do so many different things: anchoring; reporting; editing copy; and mentoring young reporters.”

Mike Jacobs is the longest serving TV news anchor in Milwaukee. He started as a weekend anchor and reporter at TODAY'S TMJ4 in August of 1977 and moved to the anchor desk full time in 1978. He keeps a non-stop pace as co-anchor of Live at 5:00, Live at 6:00 and Live at 10:00.

The Milwaukee Press Club’s “Excellence in Wisconsin Journalism” competition drew in hundreds of entries from news organizations and individuals throughout Wisconsin. The competition was judged by professional journalists and journalism scholars from across the country, from San Diego to Syracuse to Ft. Lauderdale to San Antonio, with the judges expressing pleasure at the high quality of work done by Wisconsin journalists.

TODAY’S TMJ4 also received awards in three other television categories: 1st and 2nd place for “Best Live Reporting”, plus 2nd place for “Best Newscast” and “Best Public Affairs Program” (Positively Milwaukee).
