| Gas out I got this e-mail and thought I would pass it on. We have to do something. Did anyone see the profit Conoco Phillips made? Well it was 3.55 billion for the first quarter of this year. (2007) NO GAS...On May 15th 2007 Don't pump gas on May 15th...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight. On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places. There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up. If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil company's pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day. If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th" |

| Re: Gas out It does absolutely no good if you still "use" the gas. If you don't buy it on the 15th you will either buy it on the 14th or 16th. The gas companies still sell the same amount if you still "use" the same amount. Urban Legends Reference Pages: Don't Buy Gas on May 15

| Re: Gas out I'm all for supporting the rape of American consumers from big oil companies...I mean, after all, how the hell are the Exxons of the world going to research alternative/more efficient (and cheaper) fuels if they don't make $20 billion in profit?

| Re: Gas out so? why isn't the world taking a cue from brasil? it's funny how american car makers hem&haw about making alternative fuel cars and how much funding they need and time for research however Ford recalls 'flex-fuel' cars in Brazil - Boston.com Since they were first introduced to the market by other automakers in 2003, flex-fuel vehicles have come to represent 70 percent of new car sales in Brazil, driven by skyrocketing international oil prices. Brazil is a major producer of ethanol, which is distilled from sugar cane and sells for about half the price of gasoline in the country. Latin America's biggest nation, Brazil is hailed as a model for its use of renewable fuels, and ethanol is available at virtually all its gas stations. Ford said the recall affects models with 1.6-liter engines produced between 2004 and 2006, and inspections will determine whether the tanks, which are smaller than a windshield wiper fluid reservoir, need replacement. Ford has three factories in Brazil, employs 9,500 people and is the country's fourth-largest automaker, behind Italy's Fiat SpA, General Motors Corp. and Volkswagen AG. All make flex-fuel vehicles.

| Re: Gas out Natural gas version Other big automakers, like Ford Motor Co., plan to start selling Brazilian flex-fuel cars this year. And GM recently upped the ante on fuel choice for Brazilians, offering a flex-fuel car that also runs on natural gas, widely available at the pumps in Brazil’s biggest cities. | TnTU Senior ![]() | Re: Gas out Remember Enron? I didn't follow that all that closely but I watched a show on it (NETV2). They talked about how Enron, once they got into the power companies in California, closing down some plants "temporarily" for maintenance or such, so that it would appear as though there wasn't enough electricity, therefor driving the price much higher. So, we sat and watched, started to wonder....sound familiar? Profit, profit, profit...yet so strained on our oil. Hmmm? Wake up America. |

| TnTU Senior ![]() | Re: Gas out The only reason gas prices are so high is because those with vested interest create phony shortages to hike the price of fuel. I didn't say to do anything...I said "Wake Up". Its time to see "who" is stealing from our pockets. |
