| Re: Earnhardt Jr. to announce DEI split From jayski: Because the media has been 100% accurate so far on this story. Dale Jr. to RCR? done deal? UPDATE #33? FOX25(Boston's FOX affiliate) is reporting.......Dale Earnhardt Jr. will soon be racing under the same legendary #3 Chevy that his dad used to race in. A source with direct knowledge of negotiations tells FOX25 that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has finalized a deal with Richard Childress Racing Thursday night and an official announcement will be coming soon. At a press conference today to announce that he was leaving the company his late dad built, Dale Jr. said he would have mixed emotions about driving his dad's #3 Chevy, but again, FOX25 has learned that this is a done deal.(FOX25)(5-10-2007) UPDATE: FOX8 News has confirmed Junior is negotiating late Thursday night with Richard Childress to join Richard Childress Racing. An announcement could come as early as Friday. Childress has scheduled a news conference Friday at Darlington Raceway, the site of Saturday's Nextel Nextel Cup race. Sports Director Rich Brenner has also confirmed the talks between Junior and Childress include plans for Earnhardt driving the #33 Chevrolet for RCR. Budweiser, the primary sponsor for Junior's #8 car with DEI, will follow him to his new race team. (FOX8 News)(5-11-2007) |

| Re: Earnhardt Jr. to announce DEI split Great article here. Shawn Courchesne | Auto Racing: DEI Left With Precious Little When Dale Earnhardt Jr. Is Gone Tony Stewart said the words on his Sirius Satellite Radio show in February. “Without Dale Earnhardt Jr., DEI is a museum.” And it seems that’s what’s left now in the wake of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s announcement Thursday that he is parting ways as Nextel Cup driver for Dale Earnhardt Inc. after the 2007 season. One of the most common comments I’ve heard concerning Teresa Earnhardt letting her stepson get away and not giving him more control of DEI is that Teresa is left not with 49 percent of DEI but 100 percent of nothing. Hard not to argue that one at this point in time. What is DEI left without Earnhardt? A Nextel Cup driver stable that will include Martin Truex Jr. and Paul Menard. That’s not exactly a murder’s row that will have other teams concerned with keeping DEI from the top of the standings. Truex, who won Busch Series titles in 2004 and 2005, is currently 20th in points with three top-10 finishes this season. He was 19th in the standings as a rookie in 2006 with a pair of top-5 finishes and five top-10 finishes in 36 races. Menard, 38th in the standings, has failed to qualify for three of the 10 Nextel Cup events this season. He has a grand total of 16 Nextel Cup Series starts since 2003 and is seemingly on the rent-a-ride program at DEI. Then there is the idea of prospects for a replacement for Earnhardt in DEI’s primary car. First off is the matter of major sponsorship. DEI isn’t going to find anything close to what Earnhardt brought to the table with Budweiser. With the entry of so many quality backed Toyota teams this season, it would seem the lineup of good sponsors looking for a way in is going to be extremely limited. And then there’s the matter of just who will want to drive for the team. There aren’t too many big names out there looking for new spots and even if there was, would they really want to go to DEI after the debacle that was trying to keep Earnhardt driving for the family company. One has to imagine that any driver watching the absolute mess that negotiations between Earnhardt and his stepmother seemingly degenerated into would have some serious second thoughts about what they could get there. If Teresa Earnhardt wouldn’t budge with her own stepson, what is she going to do for someone that isn’t part of the family. Remember this, Earnhardt said Thursday that they never even came close in negotiations, and he’s her stepson. The fact is, Dale Earnhardt Inc. is far behind teams like Hendrick Motorsports, Roush-Fenway Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing. By looking at what other drivers have done in DEI equipment one can surmise that the successes Earnhardt had behind the wheel in the Nextel Cup Series came not because of what he was getting from his equipment but rather despite what he was getting from DEI. The problems at DEI have been made comically public of late when it was revealed that the team was actually taking cars to JR Motorsports to use equipment that DEI did not have. How could JR Motorsports, a fledgling program fielding a Busch Series team, a Hooter’s Pro Cup Series team and some Late Model teams be investing in equipment that DEI wasn’t? And there was DEI president Max Siegel’s announcement recently that DEI would be starting an entertainment division. Today that seems an even bigger joke than the day it was announced. Any hope DEI had of attracting TV, movie or music types to get involved in a DEI entertainment division clearly hinged on the attraction of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and that's gone. All indications are that DEI was a major mess with Dale Earnhardt Jr. driving for them. Now it seems to be a program seeing its days even as a mid-level Nextel Cup program numbered. But remember, now that those pesky No. 8 cars will be out of the way at the shop there will be plenty of room for those producers to come in and start filming in the movie studio once known as DEI. |

| Re: Earnhardt Jr. to announce DEI split Damn you guys are harsh. Dale "the intimidator" started DEI so he could race for himself. This bitch took over when he hit the wall, and I think now she is seeing the finish line. Jr. will be better, and start winning again without all the bullshit. The bitch needs to DIE and give Jr. DEI in her will. Welcome to Ryan's Dale Earnhardt Fan Page! |

| Re: Earnhardt Jr. to announce DEI split Whatever happens, DEI is losing on this one! Sr. built that company from the ground and his intentions were for it to be a racing company and be family owned. So I guess the evil wicked stepmother gets it now and will give it to her evil spawn and it will forever be lost. All one can hope is that Kelley, Kerry, and Dale Jr. one day get the funds to buy her ass out and restore what their dad's original intentions were. Hmmm, Dale Jr CEO of DEI but racing for RCR sounds familiar.
