Dale Earnhardt Jr. is expected to announce his split from the team set up by his father at a press conference on Thursday.

The 32-year-old has scheduled a press conference at the base of JR Motorsports, his team, who run in the Busch Series.

Earnhardt Jr. made it clear earlier this year that he wanted majority ownership of DEI, and his sister Kelley Earnhardt Elledge has been handling the negotiations.

Reports in the USA suggest that Earnhardt Jr. may not take the expected step of adding a Nextel Cup effort to JR Motorsports, although he could run a car/engine package from another team under than banner.

According to Yahoo Sports, Earnhardt Jr.'s teammate Martin Truex Jr could also be leaving the team, and the pair could use cars and engines supplied by Henrick Motorsports.

Earnhardt Jr.'s primary sponsor, Budweiser, is expected to follow the driver, who is currently out of contract at the end of the season.

This just sucks. Sr. built this company so that his children would have a future in the sport and this bitch is destroying it.

And to those that say it is just because Jr. is a whiner, no it's not.
It has 100% to do with the shitty decisions that are currently being made by Teresea within the organization. She is not giving enough funding to certain departments and not retaining key employees among other things. It all started to go downhill when she let Ty Norris go.

Sad, sad, sad. I bet Sr. is flipping in his grave.

I don't follow racing but it makes sense to me that the wise decision would have been to do whatever was necessary to keep Dale Earnhardt Jr. driving for his current team. It sounds as though someone has made some poor decisions and Jr. leaving is the end result.
