| Velvet Revolver, Weiland part ways In a terse press release issued this afternoon, the four members of Velvet Revolver-- Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, and Dave Kushner--said they have parted ways with frontman Scott Weiland. "This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn't 100 percent committed to either," guitarist Slash said in the statement. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on." Weiland has yet to comment on the move, but given his announcement at a show in Scotland last week that fans were seeing the band's final tour, as well as his blog battle with Sorum, it likely comes as no surprise. The band was expected to take a hiatus this summer to allow for Weiland to perform with his reunited Stone Temple Pilots bandmates in a series of major music festivals. Billboard reported yesterday that the group will play more than 50 live dates this summer and into fall, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival on May 17-18 at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium. Although details remain unclear, Slash told UK newspaper Daily Star that Velvet Revolver aims to stay together. "There will be a third album," he said. | Re: Velvet Revolver, Weiland part ways How can you not get along with Matt Sorum ? Matt is a fine drummer ..maybe one of the best rock drummers in modern times. Like all bands, there's always a 'wierd uncle' in the bunch . Scott is the wierd uncle of the band who apparently refuses to grow and be a part of thier future success . I'm sure Sorum dealt with Weiland professionally ..just like he did with Axl Rose when he got behind the drum kit for Guns & Roses in 1990..replacing Steven Adler who in my opinion was a terrible drummer.who couldn't lay off the substance...Matt was the glue behind GNR ...Matt doesn't need drugs to get off on stage ...his drumming is the drug...Use Your Illusions I&II..kick ass drumming on that album ...
