| Straight Pimpin ![]() | Omaha City Weekly article on Z92 "Up Front" Jim Minge's writing about Z92 and Todd and Tyler again. Just a few of my observations. 1) I don't really care for him, because I think he attaches himself to whoever happens to be the radio or TV morning show at the time, although his facts are basically correct. 2) He used to be employed by the Omaha World Herald, and it seems his last paragraph is supposed to be a stab at them, but it really doesn't have anything to do with his story. 3) I can't tell when this story was published but it seems to have been a week before the bar room floor party. | Re: Omaha City Weekly article on Z92 For those who are unaware, Jim Minges stint at The World Herald consisted of entertainment news, movie and concert reviews. Hardly serious journalism. However his take in the City Weekly on the Z-92s ratings slump is dead on. I have had the same problem for sometime now. Z92 has failed to evolve with its audience and the times when it comes to play lists. Ozzy, Mettalica and Pink Floyd can only carry you so far anymore. You could replace the current on-air staff with yesteryear rock jocks Rick Setchall, Chuck Yates and Joe Blood and its still 1986. Z92 has been a staple for me since day one. But over the last year especially, I find myself seeking out and finding the music I enjoy elsewhere. Would I rather stay home and not have to rotate the rock dial? Absolutely! Is New Music Monday the answer? No its not. Why not the increase of new music in-general. Why not more classic rock you don’t hear much anymore. I have heard songs on this A-Z92 tour I haven’t heard in a long time. Is Z-92 trying? Yes they are. There still is room for improvement. And by the way. The current on-air staff is great and this is not to criticize them at all.
