No Z-bash.. No free-bash... No contests (unless Qwest gives them tickets for free).. No One Club Classic....
So what do you think?? Is everything ok, or does Journal need to spend some money on the listeners?

I'm guessing a lot more money was spent on Action 3 than they perhaps had anticipated...

In terms of the concerts, I can only hope that the powers that be axed plans to get crappy acts and are now saving big bucks for a great act or two...

I have no opinion as of yet to the other TnT activites (one club, etc.)

One thing is certain, Journal's behavior does pose questions. I imagine that if they continue on the current path, with no further explanation, they will soon be in troubled waters with some of their fan base.

EDIT: Good point on the streaming...even though they had the ability to do this before, some funds may have gone that route, too. I chose "Need to do something for listeners" but what I mean is, they could just explain why there were no bashes this year, for instance. I just think they would benefit in the eyes of some of their listeners by speaking of their current situation (tease people with upcoming "exciting" changes and events, etc.) To be honest, I don't care enough to lose any sleep, so maybe I could've chosen that option instead.

I had to vote "care less" For lack of "no opinion".... The only dealings I have with JB is TnT... Don't watch channel 3... And have never been to any bashes.. So I don't know what I'm missing...

They have a helluva market in the Omaha metro area... Sure would be a waste to let it slip through their fingers...

I think the streaming would never have happened unless threats were made, but that's just speculation.

I don't think JBG is selectively cheap, I think they just don't give the local presence enough of a budget to get hardly anything done.

Plus, they probably blew their wad on that last concert giveaway a few months back with the trips to Amsterdam, Dublin, and the like.

Which I thought was wierd, I think they would have got more pub, cudos, whatever by doigna decent concert in Omaha. Even compared to my stations here, I think Journal is stumbling

According to Steve Wexler (swexler (at) journalbroadcastgroup.com), he's the guy to talk to about our concerns, but according to his recent email to me, he doesn't understand the concerns because JBG put a lot of money into KEZO, and that's one of the reasons they're on top in the ratings.

The reason there is no Z-Bash or Free Bash is because they bought Travis a scooter but are trying to keep it under wraps until Christmas when they can spring it on him.

Does Wex check out this site? Wouldn't it be a good way to stay "in touch"? I really loved the Z-bashes in the past. Stood in pooring rain freezing my ass off and sat all day in the hottest sun to see some really good bands. There were ALOT of other people there too. And I really can't see how they lost money on the Z-bashes - did anyone else have a beer/pop or eat anything? They either had to get a cut of that or a fee for allowing them to sell there.....CAN WE BRING A COOLER?

The overseas trips were a neat idea, but alot of money was spent on a few people instead of the money going to alot of listeners. I don't even try to win on call in crap, cause cell phone can't redial that fast. Isn't there a better way to give stuff away than being the 92nd caller?

Credit to Dave and MMM - this is the best advertising TNT have going for them. And I know WE all appreciate the site!

MMM, I think you missed another possible choice in the poll. And this may seem like A full on ass kissing here ,but how about JBG making more money by further syndicating the TNT show and kicking the power up on their mighty Z transmitter thus selling more Ads so they could have more to spend on audience appreciation items such as Z-bash and or free-bash... Not that Wex doesn't realize that he has one of the best radio properties with the TNT show !!

You have to spend money to make money and you have to make money to spend it's A damn vicious cycle!!!!!!!!

It is a little odd that Journal has cut back on promoting Z92. If something isn't broke, don't fix it. TnT have a great show but, J.B. can not keep riding their coat tails forever. I also think changing the music would be a step in the right direction and no I don't mean country or shit like that! When TnT's show is over, I very quickly change channels. I wasn't all that crazy about 80's hair band music in the 80's. Just my opinion...................

What kind of music should they switch to? Spanish polka is taken. NOT country. NOT thrash metal. I guess I don't see a market for any other kind of music. If you want to say change it, tell us what you think it should be.

Remember, they still have to sell advertising during the day. And they have probably the best library of music on the dials.

it seems to me that they play the same stuff over and over, which is what most staions do, but i would like to hear more local or area bands and not as much of the hair bands.
