Actually, I would consider myself an independent but have morals that fall on the democratic side, so that is who I identify with the most.

No kidding! That is why I am trying to establish that all of us (on both sides, and in between) share the same morals....

What makes a Democrat? What makes a Republican? What makes an Independant? We all want the American way of life... But to what degree?

That picture was hilarious, and that's coming from more of a democrat. Granted, the picture is ridiculously misleading since the Republican party is the party of old hate filled blue-hairs. However, it made me laugh.

I stand left center. I believe in the freedoms of America but I also realize things must get done, so you have to be in the middle to an extent.

I was for the longest time Republican.That basically changed to be more in the middle when I got out of the service,but I had that one advantage to know how certain things get done being in the service that the normal person doesn't realize.Other vets or ex members I'm sure will agree with me on that fact at least.

thender - Well you asked for it. Here is a list of some of my issues. Although none are on the republican side of the fence, most are on the democratic side. Please realize that these are MY morals and you may have your own differnt set of morals that make you who you are.

Pro-Choice - My body- my choice. I don’t think it should be used as a revolving form of birth control, but that would be her choice and a decision she would have to live with.

Stem cell research - use it to save lives!!

Quit screwing around and find the cure for things like juvenile diabetes - they could cure it, but then the drug makers wouldn’t be able to make money off of the insulin. That is just SAD...

Equal Health Care for all

Equal Education for all - but throw that “No Child Left Behind” crap out the door. I know teachers who must meet the standards and it is a load of crap. Honestly.

Lets quit giving pay raises to the rich and start paying people what they deserve. A teacher shouldn’t have to work a second job just to make ends meet.

Even though we don’t have to, lets help stop starvation and give vaccines to people in Africa (for example) and save lives.

Lets quit making examples out of women like Martha Stuart (even if you don’t like her) and put people like Kenneth Lay in jail for awhile. She is twice the man he will ever be.

If I don’t believe in your religion that should be ok.

I started out a Republican - then Democratic - now more in the middle.

I honestly have the most respect for anyone who served/serves in the military. My father was in the military and so was my ex. I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone who has served, I just don't like war no matter who the president is. I also don't like President Bush - just my opinion.

#1 Your body and your choice... But if you go out and make a bad decision, do not expect me to pay for it!

#2 Exactly! Lets use the resources of stem cells. There there, why not use them?

#3 Exactly! Stop trying to screw us out of our hard earned money to save ourselves. IF you have the cure, then offer it up to us!!!

#4 'Equal health care' Depends on 'Who can pay' That is what this country is founded on... You have a right to 'Liberty' Only if you have earned it!

#5 Get rid of the Government from our Educational system! (I have been saying this for years!) Let the teachers be a dedicated team that (WANT) to TEACH!!!! (On a side note: Most teachers in my district, make more money for less time on the job, than I do!!!)

#6 Lets stop the (Good-ol-boy) politics! Lets get the Govt. out of our peresonal lives and let the small buisinessman pay his help what they are worth! I have yet to see a teacher work a 'second job' in this town! Hell! They have it better than I do! All they have to know is one subject and get payed for passing it along..... I have to know ALL the workings of an automobile and get bitched at when I fix it for what it was worth my time... (Getting drunk now);...

#7 We are giving vacinations and money to 3rd world counries. Bush has commited more money for the fight of AIDs then any other president from the last 6 elections... We are the 'Big Commitment' for Sunami aid!

thender - We are actually closer on most issues than I thought. A rebuttal to your rebuke.

#1 Who determines if what a bad decision is? Things change - life happens. Maybe what was a good thing turns out to be a mistake - you deal with it. A mistake can always turn into a good thing as well.
Both the man and the woman 'should' be responsible for raising a child. If the parent is alone - help them to help themselves, teach them something so that they can support their family, pay them more than what daycare costs, teach them employable skills.

#4 Who can pay for health care?? If you give equal health care to everyone then you would have fewer major issues therefore lowering health care costs. What about the young and the elderly -Are you going to punish them because they can't earn it? Again this goes back to the same issue of helping people stand up for themselves.

#5&6 GOOD Teachers are over worked and underpaid. They spend part of their income on there classrooms and students. Outdated textbooks and overfilled temporary classrooms are not the way to teach our children. A good teacher will not only teach one subject (elementary, middle school, special education teachers teach all subjects) but they will also teach the student how to think, how to make good choices, how to be yourself in a world that wants you to just agree and smile. Teachers are having to pick up where some parents fall short.

I did even go out last night, with some friends. But you know the saying if someone says 'Im not a prude' - well then yes they are - that is SO true
