| Fear me, if you dare! | Pink Floyd/The Wall OK, watched this for the first time last night on VH1 Classic. Wasn't drunk, stoned, or anything...just normal. Really liked it actually, and wanted to discuss it, but the bf wanted to go to bed...so I wanted to discuss it today with my rocker buddies. Wasn't a Pink Floyd fan growing up, but knew certain songs. Always thought the wall was the Berlin Wall, but actually it seems it is a self-imposed wall around this man "Pink". It also seems that it could be a wall between sanity and insanity. I didn't look it up on the internet or anything, but thought that you, my friends, might have some interesting takes on this. Discuss please!

| Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall my parents are potheads from back in the day grew up listening to the wall on 8-track (i still wait for the change over "click" when i hear another brick) as far as the movie, i've only seen it twice when i was younger/teens, and wasn't overly impressed, i think it detracts from the album by giving it more of a story and leaving less to the imagination also what was odd is the choice of bob guildoff as "pink" since he was mostly a punk musician at the time

| Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall I think you hit it on the head with the sane/insane part. I love Pink Floyd's music but found The Wall a little too much. Although I really enjoyed the movie a lot in 1991 after taking a little piece of paper.

| Fear me, if you dare! | Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall I think I will toke it up or something before watching it again. But the cartoon part was pretty good for the 1970s.

Once upon a very long time ago, I listened to it while trippin. Not a good idea, my friend was on her roof, waiting for the mother ship. And I thought we were trapped in a bubble.

| Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall Well I heard The Wall is Roger Waters personal slam against rainy day fans that show up for concerts only to see wild and crazy things and at the same time ignoring the music. So build a wall between him and his fans so they can see nothing just hear the music. Floyd is well known for lavish, almost weird stage productions..... Yeah maybe. I think its all about contolling the sheeple. From schoolmaster to rockstar to nazi-esque brainwashing freak. If you don't think for yourselves this is what can happen to you. Roger Waters is clearly one of those artistically "deep thinkers". If you really like Floyd music I recommend, if you can find it, a solo album entitled Amused to Death. It may have been a UK release only. I can't remember, I'm getting old. The first time I saw The Wall I was about 2 hours into a hit of Cloud 9 (LSD). It was a near religious experience.

| Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall I never hallucinated while tripping. My experience, and I would be embarrassed to say how experienced, is that women tend to hallucinate far more than men do. Which I always found intersting because men are more "visual".

| Fear me, if you dare! | Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall See that's the thing, I am not a tripper...too worried about that, but maybe next time I will rock the gange before watching it...plus I might have to rent it, sometimes you miss stuff when it is on VH1, cuz of commercial breaks.

| The stickiest of the ickiest ![]() | Re: Pink Floyd/The Wall I have actually seen this movie quite a few times......mostly back in college because it was my roommates favorite to watch when he was stoned of course. Every time I see it I pick different things out of certain spots in the movie and come to a different conclusion of what it's all about in the end. Last time I saw it I came to the conclusion that there were just alot of messed up things that happened to the guy during life, as a child and beyond, that made him lose it. The wall of course signifying the imaginary object he would build between himself and real feelings so he just did not have to worry about them any more. Damn........even thinking about it makes me want to go break a razor blade in half and shave my eye brows off........... :)
