| Bruning is a sorry SOB i noticed this story on CNN...discuss! http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/12/13/ch....ap/index.html Man faces 50 years for sex with bride, 14 Expectant couple crossed state line to marry Tuesday, December 13, 2005; Posted: 1:08 p.m. EST (18:08 GMT) FALLS CITY, Nebraska (AP) -- A 22-year-old man faces up to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to sexual assault charges filed after he impregnated and then married a 14-year-old girl. Matthew Koso legally married the girl in Kansas after she became pregnant. The girl, 14-year-old Crystal Koso, gave birth August 24 to a girl, Samara. Sentencing was set for February 7. The case generated international media attention when Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning filed first-degree sexual assault charges against Koso in July. Koso's trial was scheduled to begin Thursday. Bruning said that Koso is a friend of the girl's half brother and began a relationship with her when she was 12. Nebraska requires people to be at least 17 before they can marry. State law also prohibits people 19 or older from having sex with those under the age of 16. After the girl became pregnant, her mother gave permission for Koso to take her daughter across the state line to Hiawatha, Kansas. There is no minimum age for marriage in Kansas, but state law requires anyone under 18 wanting to marry to have permission of both parents or a guardian. If there's no parent or guardian, permission from a judge is required. Koso's lawyer, Willis Yoesil, has said that the girl's mother and Koso's parents approved of the marriage. The girl's father has not lived with the family for some time. Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius recently said she was asking legislators to establish a strict ban on marriage involving anyone younger than 16. The governor said the legislation also should retain the requirement for parental or judicial consent for those age 16 or 17. |

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | Call me ignorant, but I don't see how Bruning can press charges if the girl's family won't press charges not to mention the fact they gave their consent to begin with. What an idiot. |

| Batwoman ![]() | Bruning is jockeying for position amongst the most conservative of this state. His grand scheme involves either running for Governor (when Osborne is done) or House. He doesn't care about anyone involved, just making himself look good. And for the record, he is a jerk. |

| all very valid points. TnT should actually do something about this f*ck up. the talk crap about him, but why not use their powers for good and do somehting to stop this, pardon the scholar in me, neo mccarthyism. this is a goddamn witch hunt and it wont stop with retarded couples that few want to defend. the line that bothered me was the one that talked about how kansas may change their laws now. in a few years, there will be nowhere to live and feel safe to screw who/what you want :) |

| The state can always press charges if they want, regardless. Its kind of like the marijuana law in Denver.Legal up to an ounce in the city, but if caught the state will press charges because its against a state law.

| and what a terrible orld that would be. Better get to screwing before everything changes. Can you imagine! An underground railroad for swingers! LOL could you imagine the huge list there would be if we looked up every teenage mother. Bruning should go after all of them, or this case is just assinine.

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | So I'm assuming the girl was knocked up here in Nebraska. Would Bruning be able to do anything if the couple were originally from Kansas and moved here after they were married? |

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | Speaking as a parent, I wouldn't want my daughter in that situation. Then again it's not my child in question. Of course she's only 5 but still... Whenever I think about this story I start to hear banjos in the background. as messed up as it is, the couple was legally married even it was in another state. I just need to stop thinnking about it. I think my brain is about to implode. |

| one thing i always find interesting is that sometimes when a kid who is 16 kills a bunch of people, they decide to try her as an adult. so when you kill someone you can make adult decisions...but when you give the starting QB a diekman in his truck he raped you and he goes to jail. |
