bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

http://www.oldamericancentury.org/14pts.htm

In his original article, "Fascism Anyone?", Laurence Britt (interview) compared the regimes of Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Suharto, and Pinochet and identified 14 characteristics common to those fascist regimes. This page is a collection of news articles dating from the start of the Bush presidency divided into topics relating to each of the 14 points of fascism. Further analysis of American Fascism done by the POAC can be read here.

1.) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism:Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2.) Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc
http://mathaba.net/0_index.shtml?x=48719

3.) Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause:The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48195

4.) Supremacy of the Military:Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
http://www.oldamericancentury.org/fy05.gif

5.) Rampant Sexism:The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
http://www.choike.org/nuevo_eng/informes/1757.html

6.) Controlled Mass Media:Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/...324417,00.html

7.) Obsession with National Security:Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses
http://www.oldamericancentury.org/rove_terror.htm

8.) Religion and Government are Intertwined:Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
http://www.bushgreenwatch.org/mt_archives/000062.php

9.) Corporate Power is Protected:The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php...Street_Project

10.) Labor Power is Suppressed:Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
http://salt.claretianpubs.org/washwe...3/is0103b.html

11.) Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts:Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
http://www.vanderbiltorbis.com/vnews.../3e5c2a2342f25
or if you rather, firing teachers for comparing bush to hitler.....

12.) Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations
http://talkleft.com/new_archives/010719.html

13.) Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
http://www.freepress.org/columns/display/1/2005/1223

14. Fraudulent Elections: Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

I won't even bother reading it all because #1 is ludicrous. The public is responsible for flying flags, displaying ribbons, etc...not Bush. These comparisons are quite a stretch lol!

Why is this in TNT Show Discussion?! Should be moved to miscellaneous.

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

This is ridiculous. Isn’t it about time we stopped comparing Bush to a man that pushed for mass genocide? even though I am a liberal I am still offended every time Democrats call Bush a Hitler clone. its not like Bush doesn’t give us enough material to work with.

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY ON THIS ONE. BUT MY FEELING IS THAT MASS GENOCIDE COMPARED TO WHAT WE ARE DOING IS SOMEWHAT A STRETCH. BUT IN reality is any less a crime to send our thousands of our young to die,for no reason.... continue to send them to die becasue we are to pig headed to realize that we didnt belong their in the first place and to do this when the majority of the people in the country dont want us their in the first place?....ohhhhhh, And in this process kill hundreds and thousands of innocent people, and throw their country (that i agree wasnt a great place to live) into a civil war that may take years to finish and in the long run leave these people that we "LIBERATED" in a worse situation than they wer before?
Hitler not really.... but at least he was up front about what he was doing.
But the good thing is we live in a counrty where we can sate our opinions, and beleifs.

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

I did not read it all. It is all a crock of S***.

Let's start with:
1) Nobody forces anybody to buy the magnets, flags, etc. that they have in their yards,on their cars, trucks.I was not forced to buy the magnet I have. I bought it because I love my country and support her.

4)If the military had all this money, then why,in holy hell, are troops dying because they dont have the right armor?

5)Last I checked,the Secretary of State is a female.

6)Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but censhorship is everywhere, deal with it.There is not a country in this world without some form of censorship.

If I would have read it all,I would have thrown my monitor through the window.

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

How could you even compare our president to Hitler. Once again, coming from a man that sereved this great nation for over 22yrs, I find this post completely BULL$HIT. Billy is now on his soap box. In the years I spent in the Air Force, I seen a lot of different places. I seen the "Former" communist countries. The conditions that people were MADE to live in, I thank MY GOD, that I don't have to live like that. Be thankful that we have the rights we do today, be thankful that we are allowed to make OUR OWN choices. Like I was reading in a post yesterday, If you can read this in english . . . . Thank a Service Man or Woman, because if not for thier thougthless service, and the service of those before them, we, AMERICA, would not be who we are today. Sorry folks, this post has got my goat.

I hope the guys . . Tod & Tyler read this. They would have a field day.

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

As I was reading the replies to this thread, it appeared that most of the comments were directed to lilyvon...To be fair, the original post could just be an informative post of American Facism according to the POAC.

I think we can all agree that the Bush administration has done some questionable activities, but I don't think he's a fascist.

I may add more to this later; I just didn't want my commentary to sound like I was attacking lilyvon

I don't think anyone was attacking the original poster, but they are subjecting themselves to ridicule by posting such opinionated material.

What I love about TnTU is that we can respectfully disagree with someones opinion and still go out and have a beer together. Isn't that whats its all about anyway....tolerance.

I applaud you lilyvon for having courage of conviction to post what you did here. Even though I disagree with it, for NOBODY should be compared to Hitler. That piece of shitfuckmike is in a class all by himself. And its somewhat comforting to know that he, Mussolini and Tojo are currently buried by 30 MILLION souls in hell.

I agree -- intelligent debate is something that is sadly lacking in our country nowadays, it's nice to see people talk about issues without resorting to CAPS LOCK SCREAMING, personal attacks, and "Chapaquitic!" being thrown around on the forums.

It's one of the main reasons I frequent the site, so thanks guys and gals! I appreciate it!

Re: bush to hitler in 14 (easy) steps

If you disagree, attack the post, not the poster. That's my motto.

Or, as Charley Manson says... "If you do something, do something witchy!"

I tend to steer away from any political threads just because there isn't any poster or any information that will change a person's opinions on their political beliefs, so its a waste of time for me to participate. IN MY OPINION!!!!!

But, anytime an article or blogger comes out and uses the lowest common denominator (hitler), then I try to make a point to remember where it came from.

Bush is not Hitler
Saddam is not Hitler
Osama is not Hitler

Making those comparisons simply bring humanity to Hitler, which is the opposite affect of what the author is trying to do.

OH MY GOD..... ARE WE THE ONLY ONES WHO REALIZE THAT BUSH IS HITLER REINCARNATTED? Well not truly Hitler but, Hitler is still within living memory and here I am and I see the same tactics and schemes used by Hitler to Grasp power, being used by Bush to the applause of the masses! Sickening, isnt it. THE END IS NEAR GUYS. BE PREPARED AND DO NOT SUBMIT THO THE FACISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE FUTURE RELIES ON US TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING TO LIVE FOR IN THE GENERATIONS TO COME... GOD does not take sides in trivial human matters. REMEMBER THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO INVOKE GOD, TO ADVANCE YOUR OWN BELIEFS. This is from REVELATIONS "Those who claim they are true christians will be punished worst of all". REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO GOD WHY YOU DESERVE TO GO TO HEAVEN!

there is a small degree of facisism in any nation's regiem
even clinton had his sax blowin' doll
