| Southpark and Hypocrisy In their response to Issac Hayes' recent departure from the show. Matt Stone and Trey Parker released a typically unconventional statement (highlighted). I love these guys! Hayes' actions have once again highlighted the hypocrisy of Scientology. Trashing every other religion is acceptable just leave mine alone. If his desire was to make a statement, why not bow out for a few episodes. I can respect that. But just quitting makes it look like a spoiled rich guy throwing a temper tantrum. I've read L Ron Hubbards "Dianetics". I can see why a misguided, weak minded individual could get sucked into this. I couldn't help but feel like spending time in the Manson commune just pryor to the Tate murder. But alas, I grew up. I search for guidance and inspiration on TnTU and would blindly follow Todd and Tyler to the breach of hell. And for hypocrisy, I fall deep into the catagory of "equal opportunity basher". Everybody deserves a little ribbing now and then. Wouldn't you agree? 'South Park'-Scientology Battle Rages On Mar 17 5:51 PM US/Eastern Email this story By ERIN CARLSON Associated Press Writer NEW YORK "South Park" has declared war on Scientology. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of the animated satire, are digging in against the celebrity-endorsed religion after a controversial episode mocking outspoken Scientologist Tom Cruise was yanked abruptly from the schedule Wednesday _ with Internet rumors it was covert warfare by Cruise that led to its departure. "So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun!" the "South Park" creators said in a statement Friday in Daily Variety. "Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies... You have obsructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail!" Internet bloggers accused Cruise of threatening to not promote "Mission Impossible 3," a surefire summer blockbuster, if the offending episode ran. Comedy Central is owned by Viacom, as is Paramount, which is putting out "MI:3." But Cruise's representative, Arnold Robinson, told The Associated Press Friday that the mega-star made no such demands. "Not true," Robinson said. "I can tell you that he never said that." A call by The Associated Press to a Paramount representative was not returned Friday. The episode in question, "Trapped in the Closet," which first aired last November, shows Scientology leaders hailing Stan, one of the show's four devilish fourth graders, as a savior. A cartoon Cruise locks himself in a closet and won't come out. An animated John Travolta, another famous Scientologist, enters the closet to try to get him out. In another dig at the famously secretive religion, the credits at show's end are filled with names like "John Smith" and "Jane Smith." The battle began in earnest earlier this week when Isaac Hayes, another celebrity Scientologist and longtime show member _ voicing the ladies' man Chef _ quit the show, saying he could no longer tolerate its religious "intolerance and bigotry." Stone and Parker didn't buy that either. On Monday, Stone told The Associated Press, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith in Scientology...He has no problem _ and he's cashed plenty of checks _ with our show making fun of Christians." A Comedy Central spokesman said Friday that the network pulled the controversial episode to make room for two shows featuring Hayes. "In light of the events of earlier this week, we wanted to give Chef an appropriate tribute by airing two episodes he is most known for," the spokesman said.

| Re: Southpark and Hypocrisy IMO the reason Hayes left SP is because Matt and Trey put on the "Scientologists really believe this" disclaimer during the show. [sarcasm]I dont think it is fair to blame Scientology for his actions. people can who believe in Scientology can still be normal. just look at how civil Tom Cruise acted on Oprah.[/sarcasm] ![]()

| Re: Southpark and Hypocrisy I am so glad I saw this episode when it first aired because it was hilarious. Too bad Hayes is being such a baby about it because he banked plenty off Stone and Parker making fun of plenty other religions. |

| Re: Southpark and Hypocrisy OMFG what a brilliant episode. Basically they used old sound clips from chef to create all of his dialogue. The ep took plenty of jabs at Scientology and never made fun of Hayes directly. In fact the show had more of a sympathetic look at Hayes and how he was prolly forced to quit SP. *******SPOILER******** Since we don't have [/spoiler] tags here I wanted to warn people. Skip this if you dont want to read a some-what detailed summary of the ep. The beginning of the episode opens with a "Previously on..." bit where Chef leaves SP to join the "Super Adventure Club." the children are all sad until they find out that Chef has returned. Chef seems a little weird but the children dismiss it because he was away for so long. Chef accepts his former job of school chef. In the lunch line the children are shocked when Chef comes on to them. (basically they have sound-bites of Hayes greeting the children and combine it with clips of him singing his sex songs. one of the more disturbing lines was "I wanna put my balls in your asshole children.") Chef gets investigated by the cops because they think his is a pedophile. In order to save Chef, the children go to the Super Adventure Club and find out that the club brainwashes it's members into wanting to molest children because they believe that when an adult has sex with a child, tiny organisms travel to the adult allowing them to live forever (when this was explained there was a disclaimer that said "The Super Adventure Club really believes this" ...lol). The children break Chef free from the brainwashing and try to escape the Club. They make it as far as a bridge outside but then the Club's members ask Chef if he really wants to leave the Club. Chef decides to stay and on the way back the bridge is struck by lightning and Chef falls to his death, literally torn apart by a mountain lion and a bear. During Chef's funeral back in SP Kyle gives a speech that is obv. meant to express Matt and Trey's feelings about Hayes leaving the show (Kyle says "We shouldn't be angry at Chef for his choices the past couple of days, but instead be angry at the fruity club that brainwashed him.") The end of the show has Chef reassembled into Darth Chef...complete with the voice and likeness of Darth Vader. *******End Spoiler*******

| Re: Southpark and Hypocrisy When I saw that chef was to return in this episode I had a feeling they would probably kill him since Hayes was no longer doing the voice. It was funny how they pieced in clips for his voice in the beginning because it was so obvious. |
