Regarding signatures, I remembered that there is an option in your profile to not show signatures, images, and/or avatars, so somebody can use that if there's too much clutter for them.

I'll be making these changes soon.

The Todd and Tyler forums will be available to view to all registered members and visitors, as well as the Front Page Announcements.

I've been debating whether to put ALL the miscellaneous ("other crap") stuff in a cateogory that just registered members can view, or have a clean miscellaneous forum, and for/sale/wanted forum viewable by everybody, and have all jokes and teachergirl's comments (HA!) filed under the "underground" forum.

if you put only "clean" stuff in a new miscellaneous, newbies will not get the opportunity to see the slightly darker side of the moon. Part of the charm is we kind of carry on the TnT cutting edge tradition that they no longer can, (fuck you very much FCC).

If "lurkers" only see the homogenized side of the site they may wonder what the big deal is about and not return.

I support a NSFW forum (underground). But keep in mind the long time lurkers. Maybe they are lurking for a reason. They really enjoy the site, but by registering they would lose the anonimty lurking provides.

'ox,you actually have a good point. If a newbie comes in and only sees the clean crap,they may leave and never come back just 'cause they think we are under the same FCC rules as the show.

Actually, they won't, they can choose to be "invisible" while lurking.

I want people to be looking for Todd and Tyler Unauthorized, and be able to find the place easily. I don't just want somebody looking for "the video of some guy blowing a goat" and finding this place.

Half the lurkers browse this site at work, and some may not have internet access at home. Once the site starts being labeled a porn site, or draws attention to itself as "non-essential", it'll be blocked.

by registering, wouldn't that change the information in their cookie? Wouldn't a non-registered users cookie be easier to explain than a registered one?

Cookies retain password info. If an employer sees that, they would know that the employee took the time to register instead of being able to say they just "accidentally ran across the site".

Perhaps there should be a bit more requirements to gain access to the TntU Vault (sorry, had to try a name...)?

No, cookies don't retain password info.

Unregistered and Registered users both have cookies to determine if a person is logged in, what forums/threads they haven't visited, etc.

Employers track what sites their employees are visiting rather than what cookies are being stored.

I think I might do something half assed first. I'll leave things open for everybody to read, but I'll block google from indexing (putting in their search) the "Other crap" forums. And we'll see how that goes.
