Re: Z Bash 2006?

Lynnie, Quiet Riot was supposed to show up for ZBash 2 or 3 times, but always backed out at the last minute. Never heard the reason, but it became a good joke for a while.

Is Mr. Mister available?

I recall Trav saying something to the effect that Nebraska's most popular celebrity was "the guy from Mr. Mister".

Re: Z Bash 2006?

How about some hair bands? I saw a show at the Anchor Inn a couple of years ago with Cinderella, Warrant, I don't remember who else was there, but it was a good show. After Warrant I was pretty drunk, that darn Jani Lane!

Re: Z Bash 2006?

The "other" station is having a brew fest at Westfair, and the Jazz and Blues Festival is this summer at Levi Carter Park (the official "home" of Z-Bash).

So what's a poor station (KEZO) to do?

Omaha Jazz and Blues Festival

7/7/2006 and 7/8/2006

(actually I think this may be at Lewis and Clark landing, not Levi Carter, but I heard something was going on at Levi Carter)

A bunch of other Z-Bash "worthy" acts playing at Harrah's of course too.

Smile Re: Z Bash 2006?

Just to clear things up-

The Z-bash was never about making money- When TNT had the idea it was a party for the listeners, plain and simple a party for the listeners. As far as I know JBG never made money on a Z-bash other than the year it rained on Poison, and the insurance kicked in. I can say with without a doubt, Todd and Tyler have NEVER said, "Hey here's a good idea to make money off of the listeners!". They are about the fan perception, and to the fans TNT were putting on a great party.

It was the right event, at the right place, at the right time. It couldn't start later, no lights at carter park. And the neighborhood association would only give the ok if it was over by dark. So starting later couldn't happen. The headliners began to price themselves out of control- throw into the cost of the production, and the fact that people were only paying $20.00 for sometimes 6 to 7 bands, that could never happen today, Not with the quality of the bands that were there.

With the Qwest center coming into the picture- the Z-bash as we knew it was in trouble. Before the Qwest, Z was the only ones bringing in big name acts, Poison, David lee Roth, Journey, Paul Rodgers, Nugent, Thorogood, Cinderella, Slaughter, Hagar, Night Ranger, Joe Walsh, Great White, Dokken, Blue Oyster Cult, And I am forgeting so,so many. Now the Qwest brings in the biggest names. The bands now had a choice- play outside in the summer with a chance of rain or play to 16,000 in a brand new arena.

It became a struggle to outdue the year before, Z basically did it to themselves, every year they put on a kick ass show and the fans expected, and TNT, expected it to get better and better every year. At some point you have to realize that you need to try something new.

And nothing against the guy who listed the bands, those may be great bands but, in the day , most of them would have never made the line up. That doesn't mean you can't hope they do show up somewhere close, I'm just sayin' sorry. I hope Z does do someting , it's always a party. And some of my best memories are from the Z-bash- Hell, I proposed to my wife on stage in front of 14,000 screaming, wet hairband fans. So long live the Z-bash.

Stay Safe,
Donnie

There will be no Z-bash. The bands that they were offered was not what they wanted, so from what I have heard NO Z-bash this year.

Yeah, big names...

Hey Walt...

Poison and Cinderella - on tour together this summer and doing pretty well at ampitheaters across the country.

Journey - touring with Def Leppard this summer. They had to add a 3rd month to the tour because the first 2 sold so well.

Paul Rodgers - Currently fronting Queen and touring some of the biggest venues in Europe. Stateside this fall.

Nugent - Touring here and there this summer and has had 2 reality TV show in the past couple months.

Joe Walsh - Just got off another sold out tour with the Eagles and they are currently in the studio working on a new record.

Sammy Hagar - On tour with his solo band The Wabos and Michael Anthony. Taking the Cabo Wabo Village across the country and has a new record out right now.

As far as DLR is concerned, yeah, you're right, he's washed up. I can't defend him. But the rest of these names are all legitimately big time bands. Plus the other thing to consider is that most of the REALLY big name bands that we'd ALL love to see at Z-Bash have a "No Radio Show" policy. They just won't play radio festival shows. End of discussion. So we kind of get screwed on that deal.

I'd also like to throw my support behind Donnie's post earlier. He pretty well put it in a nutshell. I love Z-Bash as much as you all do, but there's now way it can compete with the Qwest Center, so there's no point trying. Instead we've been trying to help them in any way we can to get those REALLY big names in to Omaha for our listeners to enjoy. Stones, Metallica, Bon Jovi, U2, Nickelback, Aerosmith, Motley, Van Halen, Clapton. Why not work together with the Qwest so we can get you guys more names like this?

Not trying to incite ariot with this post, just defending some of our past performers. They're not just a bunch of washed up has-beens. (Except for DLR, he is....)

Nothing but love for all of you! Without you guys, Z and TNT wouldn't be half of what it and they are. The listeners are the key....

Thanks!

Come on Pussy, can't Z92 see what they can do....I would love to see DLR headline the Free Bash doing bluegrass, and then after that you guys could have GNR dick you over and axl not even show up. I bet you Vinnie Vincent isn't doing anything right now (don't quote me on the last one lol)

Re: Z Bash 2006?

Then call me Osama, Def Leppard eats ass! In my ears anyway.

Please don't call me Osama though. I hate that fucker more than Joe Elliot.

Point taken Pussy, BUT some of these bands who could once hold court in some of the largest venues in the world, are now playing county fairs, and small bars across the country. I mean really, what is Great White up to these days?
Don't get me wrong, I loved every Z bash I went to. I miss them greatly, as it became less about what band was actually there to me, and more about a chance to hang out with some cool people, and do some serious people watching and drink, and of course avoiding the out houses like a plague.
My first bash, I got to work at, I dispensed beer at the V.I.P. tent area in the rain, the year Donnie proposed on stage, and Trav sported the infamous capri pants(he did look gay). I had a great time and could not even see the bands, didn't matter. Thanks to TNT I can now say that I have tapped a keg, started pouring, until it ran out, and never turned it off. Several TIMES this happened. There were 3 of us working, and we couldn't keep up in the rain. It was a great time, and the music made it even better.
