| Sushi and agression Don't go to Hiro sushi! Here is what happened. I'm still pissed about the situation too. Good service = good tip, bad service = bad tip. Some people belive that they are entitled to a tip regardless. |

| Re: Sushi and agression Livejournal.com A person on a friends list who was a myspace friend of the guy that works with the guy that started the fight with me and my friend started posting in her livejournal and myspace and it turned into an intarweb fight. huge headache. To put things short, we got shitty service at Hiro on Friday night on my birthday, we tipped accordingly, (three bucks on over 100 dollars worth of sushi) even after he tried to put 18 percent gratuity on the check (there were only four of us) . Fucking faux hawk (aka the fish fin haircut from back in the day) wearing piece of crap excuse of a waiter runs out flipping us off and cursing at us proclaiming that "this is a five fucking star resturant and you only tip 10 percent!" (obviously math isn't a strongsuit for him). My friend comes up to him, and he is being uber calm while this guy is yelling and screaming at him. I make my way over as well just in case the shit hits the fan and I have to break it up, or crack some skulls. Just then management and more servers come out and eventually pull him back inside (even after cussing us out more). We wind up getting a crap excuse on his behaviour and that "he will be dealt with". This guy "sammy" with a fuax hawk, STILL WORKS THERE BECUASE HE IS DATING THE DAUGHTER OF ONE OF THE MANAGERS THERE! I sure as hell am not going back there, decent sushi, but fuck's sake I'll go to Matsu, the place that used to be Ichiban, Sushi Japan and Blue before I go there again. That and I had way better sushi out in KC of all places (down in Westport) Las Vegas, and Seattle. I'm just really absolutly appalled, I don't expect a tip when I work, or perform, and if I don't get one, I'm not going to yell at anybody about it either. So there it is in a nutshell. |

| Re: Sushi and agression Here is the cut and pasted version.  you would not BELIEVE what just happened to us. So J & I go out for dinner with Amanda and James for J's birthday. We decided on sushi, and tried out Hiro, up on Maple. I've heard good things about them, and honestly, the food was really, really good. Unholy expensive, but good. The problem was our waiter. He came over maybe twice, both times ignoring J & me, focusing primarily on Amanda's boobs. He delivered our food, didn't ask us if we wanted more drinks or a refill on water, and we literally didn't see him again until he delivered our check, mentioning that the gratuity had been added to the tab. *blink* WHAT gratuity? He'd been rude, cutting J and I off when we tried to order an appetizer, completely ignoring J another time when he tried to order a drink, and then had been entirely inattentive the rest of the time. Now, this was annoying, to say the least. We would have just not left him a tip, or left him only a very small one, but he'd ADDED 18 - yes, you read that correctly, EIGHTEEN PERCENT -- to the bill for his tip. I was like....uh...what is this? CONGRESS, where you can just vote your own pay? Um. No. Amanda and I went out to the car while James and J spoke with the manager. In the end, James left $3 (of our sizeable bill), and came out to the car. A few seconds later, the waiter came out the front door, yelling at us and FLIPPING US OFF. When J retorted with a "fuck you", he came all the way out, toward the car, and started yelling obscenities and acting as if he would physically assault either J or James. (Amanda and I were still in the truck, watching wide-eyed.) James was the paragon of calm -- calling the guy "sir" and being much more polite than I'd have been if he was yelling at me. Half the staff and the owner and manager came out in short order, ordering this fauxhawked kid back into the restaurant, and he still kept yelling. "You only tip ten percent!? AT A FIVE STAR FUCKING RESTAURANT!?" We left him $3. That's less than 10Ã* I didn't correct him. Amanda & I really couldn't hear everything from our seats, but we definitely heard that, and "DO I LOOK LIKE A FUCKING BARTENDER?" Well, no. Bartenders have better hair, and better service. Ahem. Eventually, the other waiters wrestled him back inside, and J & James came back to the truck. James was unphased, somehow, but J wanted to machete the waiter's fauxhawk right off. I. am. appalled. I mean, aside from the shitty service (which you wouldn't expect from a, and I quote, five-star-fucking-restaurant), the obscenity-screaming waiter was just so far beyond the realm of normal that it bordered on the surreal. I understand how hard it is to be a waiter, but tips are for people who deserve something extra. Usually, I start tipping at about 15Àand it goes up and down from there, and this yahoo was down to nothing in the first five minutes. He had an hour to make it up to us, and had he, oh, say, refilled our water glasses or asked if we needed anything, or hadn't added eighteen percent to the bill (cheeky bastard), we probably would have left him a pretty hefty tip anyway. All of us in the party tonight are pretty good tippers when it's appropriate. (Hell, I just tipped an Old Spaghetti Factory lady $8 on a $16 bill, just because J tried to bite her. Long story, that. But still...) This guy deserved a kick in the pants and possibly a knee to the junk more than he deserved a tip, and HE came out to berate US? Needless to say, I won't be going back to Hiro anytime soon, and I plan to write the owners a little note of displeasure at the unprofessional assholes they've chosen to hire. Just -weird-. |

| Re: Sushi and agression Wow. Thanks for the low down. I live by that place. However, I did not know it was a 5 star fucking resturant. You know, I always tip real good. I even been known to tip up to $20.00 for really excellent service when the waiter or waitress is funny and it makes the meal more enjoyable. Than again.... I've had super crappy service and have been known to write out a tip for the person and explain why I was not leaving a tip (ie.. If you actually paid attention to me as your customer I may have tipped you 10% however you sucked and you get nothing.) I work a parttime job and make tips however I've never ever been rude to repeat customer who may have tipped me not so well last time.

Now - I dunno if I'd call it "f*cking five star" or anything that fancy, but it was still something that ticked me off. I paid in cash for the bill, and all I had left over was a 50. I had asked him to break the 50 for me (obviously so I could leave a tip) and he told me that I could break it a the front counter. I was like, WTF, but I went up there to do it anyways. Well the guy must have forgotten what he told me to do, saw us walking towards the door, and stops me in the middle of the friggin place and asks if there was a problem with the service, and then proceeded to tell me that he lives off of his tips! I wanted to slap him and remind him that HE told ME to break the 50, but by that time I just shook my head and walked away. Some people need to pay more attention and they would get alot better tips.
