| sucky jugglers I fully admit to being a sucky juggler. But I'm getting better due to practicing, and sticking yourself out infront of a croud only makes you better espically dealing with the unexpected slipups. currently I juggle: Balls Clubs Knives Machettes Hatchets Toilet plungers Glass bottles (working on doing broken glass bottles like Penn and Teller) Rings (eventually circular saw blades) Hand gernades Shotputs Other juggling/prop manipulation things I do Contact Juggling (ala Jareth from the movie Labyrith) AKA single ball juggling, that involves control over a single ball moving across your body. Diablos (AKA Chineese Yo Yo) Lots of fun but you need some high celings to pull off the really cool moves Rolla Bolla (Balance board, I use this a lot with the juggling) Fire Staff spinning, and poi spinning (look on homeofpoi.com) I gotta also learn hat juggling, and bar flair spinning ![]() ![]() |

| Re: sucky jugglers Sometimes "Sucky Jugglers" can be fun too. Well, at least those that pretend to be "sucky". When I was younger, they used to have all those "Battle of the Network Stars", and "Circus with the stars" shows, and something to that extent had a famous actor on something like Johnny Carson who had two jugglers who juggled bowling pins. Then, they moved on to other things including knives and got an audience member to stand in the middle. The host asked, "Have you done this before?", One of the jugglers responded, "Just once, but we paid for the funeral..." You could see the audience member unsure if he should laugh or fear for his life. As long as it doesn't put anybody in danger it's more fun. No jugging chainsaws, ok?

| Re: sucky jugglers ehh it's hard enough getting an electric lawnmower to ballence on my chin, so modified chainsaws for juggling, not just yet. I still find that picture of me holding the sign is funny becuase people love to buy me drinks if I start juggling knives afterwards. (granted after 3 back to back guinesses, it is a little dificult) |

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | Re: sucky jugglers When I saw the post I thought maybe you meant the Great White Juggling Duo Joe called in about. I think Colleen gave them the name. I didn't hear the last part of the show so don't know exactly what was said by either. Anyway, I was at that show Saturday night. Granted, I can't juggle, but those guys need a lot of practice. A lot. Their banter, their routines all really needed a lot of work.

| Re: sucky jugglers Well it was kind of a refrence to the jugglers that performed Saturday. Who were they? I might run into them at the Flatland jugging festival in Omaha next weekend. |

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | Re: sucky jugglers I think they were called Gravity Works. In their case, the name was appropriate. Gravity certainly pulled down everything they dropped. Anyway, I know the word gravity is in there somewhere. I can't complain because the company paid for the event. It was cool getting to see Blue House and the Holland is an amazing place.

| Re: sucky jugglers Awesome. Im into the Poi art as well. I have 2 fire poi sets one is a wrapper poi and the other is a standard link-style. Zuni swings for practice and the occasional glowstick and shoes-string.

| Re: sucky jugglers Gravity Works? Holy shit, I know those guys. They can do a lot of good stuff too. Poi wise, I gotta get a new set of snakes, all kevalar wicking up to the last six inches near the handle. (lots of flame there) now that the weather is getting nicer, I wonder if I should light up sometime before this weekend. (going out to the Colorado Dark Arts Fest and possibly hang out with some of the colorado fire tribe as well) |

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | Re: sucky jugglers I can't bag on them too bad. After all, I couldn't get up there and do what they do. Maybe they were having an off night or something. I doubt the juggling is their full-time gig. Somehow, I don't get the feeling that there's a very big market for jugglers in the Metro area. The fire baton flying into the audience was a little freaky though.

| Re: sucky jugglers Those guys are semi professional jugglers and they make a decent living doing it. For the most part (least being in this area) it is hard for us (performance artists, jugglers, magicians, clowns and sideshow performers) to make a decent living going full time. A lot of us have to deal with people trying to lowball shows, or use the "do it for the scene" excuse because they don't want to pay. (it's bullshit and people pull the same shit with bands and DJs as well) There are a few that actually do this professionally though, and they are damn good. |

| Re: sucky jugglers The only hard part is finding good CJ balls. When starting, don't get a polyurathane ball, because it will be chipped to all hell, use a 3.5 inch stage ball, or if you can find the 3 inch steel Cj balls from Dube.com those work the best for learning. |

| Re: sucky jugglers It really is not just that, there are a lot more factors involved than just doing that. There are a lot of ways to get seriously injured doing this. (A friend of mine was using the wrong fuel, and wound up with second and third degree burns over his face neck and chest. So many fuel choices, and so many ways to get burned |

| "Someone sh*t on the coats!" ![]() | Re: sucky jugglers I have a question: When a juggler says they're jugging razor sharp knives, are they actually razor sharp? I've seen jugglers who say this and then to demonstrate the point, they break a carrot on the blade but don't exactly cut it if that makes any sense. I realize they are pointy and can be dangerous when used at speed but are they actually sharpened?

| Re: sucky jugglers That depends on the juggler, given the speed of the throw you can definatly open yourself up. Some people do, some people don't have them that sharp. Mine aren't that sharp, but can seriously hurt, first weekend doing knives I split my thumbnail in half. |
