Jasmine, pitbull attacks are a recurring story on the todd and tyler show, they get a lot of grief and hate mail from pit bull owners (aka "morons")

Stories about "yet another teacher bangin' a student" are also popular.

It's not the pitbull's fault, but because stereotypically the person that owns pitbulls does not know how to raise them. They are a very demanding species to raise and take special training. But most owners are morons and think having a pittbull is macho... So I say just ban the damn things!

Maybe they could issue a special license to people who complete a comprehensive 20 week course on the do's and don'ts of keeping pitbulls and limit the posession of pitbulls to one. Also they would have to store their pitbull in a tripple fence kennel with razor wire on top, and a security lock with an alarm system.

I have seen some good ones,and a couple that were complete and utter morons, as a result of inbreeding I'm sure, but both by the same owner. So, I'm more along the lines of its the blood line of the dog. But on the same note, the owner has a great deal to do with it also. Personally, I have no problem with them. Just have a no tolerance act for them. Screw up once,nighty night you go.

I honestly believe that the owners of pitbulls need to pay special attention to these dogs. My brother & sister-in-law own two pitbulls. Personally, if I saw these dog's I'd be scared to death. They are mean and vicious looking. However, I have known these dogs since they were puppies and know that they are harmless. But that's because I've been around them and know their behaviors. These dogs are house dogs or should I say lap dogs. When they are outside they are kept in a secure dog run. This is not only for your protection but also theirs. If you happen to wonder into their yard and they don't know you. You'd better start running or your going to get to know them pretty fast. My brother & sister-in-law have cared for them with love and when it comes time to correct them they don't use violence (hitting, beating, whipping, etc..) they use verbal commands that indicate to the dog that what they have done is wrong.

This is just my own personal experience with pitbulls/ opinions.

Actually - yes =) It was partially about the show, partially because I also own a pitbull.

But realistically, the dogs can act however the owner raises them, and IF in fact it's in their blood to be mean no matter how you raise them, the owner should see that right away and act accordingly.

I have raised 2 of them from puppies. 1 that I had in Lincoln, and 1 that I have now in Omaha. They are very sweet, loving, affectionite, blah blah blah. The same ol' story you hear from anybody that has a "good one".

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents out there though. I'm not saying there is not a such thing as "bad ones" but if people would learn to act accordingly with dogs that behave in such a manner, it could probably be easily corrected at a time in the dogs life when it's a correctable thing. Let it go too long, and that's it. I've seen dogs that are mean for just that fact (and not just pitbulls either).

End of crazy pitbull rant.

i personally dont care one way or the other, any type of animal can get vicious if provoked. Pitbulls just have the stereotype for it

I have never owned a pit bull. Frankly, I have no desire to, as I am more of a black lab kind of girl. (and, ugh, cats, because of where I live) I feel people need to recognize that animals are animals, and are inherently wild by nature. Yes, they have been domesticated, however, that doesn't mean that a dog won't revert to natural instincts when it feels like it is being threatened.

We had the cutest little puppy (a black lab) that we adopted from a friend of the family that we actually had to put down because he was so violent. Trust me, we didn't do anything to cause "Buddy" to turn into "Cujo".

Again, I have never been around a pit bull, so I probably would be a poor judge as to what rules and regulations should be enforced. Nonetheless, if I was a mother, I wouldn't let my child within one mile of one, so maybe I do have an opinion after all.
