| not to bash on a sponser Not to be an asshole about one of the sponsers of the TNT show, but Stir at Harras really is more or less an upscale dive. I'm getting sick and tired of the little hole in the wall martini bars that apparently stick to the style of NYC bars and nightclubs. The only thing that I see that are that style are the prices. If I'm paying 8 dollars for a regular flippin martini, they obviously better make it right and make the thing not taste like I'm drinking fucking vermouth here! The sound and accoustics suck there for any live music (saw 3D there, it sounded bad, really bad) Never mind the jackboot security guards that will want to escort you out if you as so much crack a smile there. Did you see the dance floor there? I have seen more dance space in a portapottie! But it would make a fine bar if the drinks were cheaper, security was nicer, no live music just make it a BAR and quit trying to copy the style of some nightclub that nobody has ever seen except for a backround in "Sex in the City" or some other TV series based in a major US city. And yes I have been to a lot of clubs in the US and I have NEVER seen anything like that place. You don't need posh furniture and decoration to have a nice club, you don't need required dress codes, heavy security and high drink prices to have a nice club. You want an interesting club, don't give a crap on matching furniture, find whatever is comfortable, most clubs are dark enough that nobody cares, unless it's uncomfortable. Lower the drink prices, low prices means bigger tips and more drinks sold (duh). And for fuck's sake play something that you don't hear in any other nightclub around! There are plenty of DJs in this town, that spin plenty of different styles, so you can have multiple nights, multiple DJs and it would keep a lot of different people coming in to drink even more. </endrant> |

| Re: not to bash on a sponser Ok, I think that the place in general sucks, and they try too hard to sound like some exclusive private, underground, groundbreaking, uber L337 nightclub. |

| Re: not to bash on a sponser That's better. I know what you are talking about... Some places come in and think they can charge over the going price and convince their customers that they are a swank joint.

| Re: not to bash on a sponser West O, shit, the drinks are twice as strong, and nearly half as much at Nico! Remember the Retro Metro, the fact that it was an 80s club rocked, but they kept playing shit and way overcharging for drinks, I went there for maby an hour at the most and was pissed. Hey Skippy when running a light system it's best to turn off the house lights! I went to Red near where Sushi Blue is, and they charged cover, it's a BAR! And overpriced at that. I had a better time at the 415 than that place. (nothing like getting the Evil Eye when wearing all black at that place) But the sushi is good there so it ain't all bad. Even Vegas is a good nightclub get away with cheap covers and cheap drinks! |

| Roller wheels of dooooooooom... ![]() | Re: not to bash on a sponser I enjoy the Arena for some reason. Not too pretentious (however you spell that), nice waitstaff, decent food and some good bands. Course Shey Rileys (oy again on the spelling) is a blast on the weekends too. Neither is "nightclubbish" really so I suppose that helps.

| If you give me enough throcks, I'll play with your ![]() | Re: not to bash on a sponser Arena is a pretty good place...and at least you can actually hear the band (and dance, if you're drunk enough) I agree Rev, Stir stinks. Actually, I can't think of any "club" in Omaha that doesn't...maybe I'm getting old, but give me a cold beer and a place to hang with my friends, and I'm happy. Let the kids pretend they aren't living in Nebraska.

| Fear me, if you dare! | Re: not to bash on a sponser My two cents. Arena, ah, whatever. 415, hole, music good, and if I can feel it down the street, it has to be good! Stir, sucks donkey balls At my ripe old age of...older than some of you...I like cheap beer, good beer, and a place to play some foosball (on the foosball field), maybe karoke once or twice a week, and possibly show how bad I am at pool.
