I worked in small-town, rinky-dink radio for a few years. It doesn't matter the caliber of station. It doesn't matter how incredibly talented you or other people think you are. "It's Radio." In my case, the place went through ownership changes, all the signs were there. I had other interests anyway, and left before finding out if I would be blown away by the winds of change.

MOST of the time, the guy getting quit knows it's coming...he just doesn't usually know when.

ANYway...life goes on!

Yeah, for all the talk the guys say about how those arbitron ratings really don't mean anything unless you're in the business, they must mean something.

The Reader's Media notes is a helpful read.
Rating's slump, they fire the director... it has nothing to do with the fact that today's music blows and that's why a lot of "12+" (i.e. teenagers and twenty-something's who actually have the time/no job/ability to turn on rock during the day) have switched to alternative stations with music more fitting to their tastes and/or can repeat the same songs over and over and over ad nauseum. Z92 just isn't hard-rock enough for some. Veteran bands have gone a bit more mellowed in their sound, newer bands... meh, I can't think of one song played on z92 by a newcomer band that I actually like.
Ah, what the hell do I know, I'm just bitter. I liked Lester's tastes in music. For all I know, Lester's departure could be a result of the TNT syndication. Maybe he wasn't hard enough on TNT. Who knows.

Ok, so it's not just me. I'm usually at work during Lester's shift so didn't hear him much. I started to notice that there was someone else in Big P's spot @ night. Didn't think much of it. Just assumed Lester was on vacation of something until his spots vanished all at once. He'll be missed.
