The Omaha franchise of the National Women's Football Association is holding an open tryout this Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at Hitchcock Park, 45th & Q.

The team is looking for women ages 18 and older who are competitive and not afraid to participate in outdoor, full contact football. Knowledge of the game is helpful, but not necessary.

Women interested in participating at the tryouts should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring water or other beverages to drink. There is a one time tryout fee of $35 which must be paid prior to participating. All participants must bring proof of health insurance. To pre-register for the tryouts, contact Coach Russ Molzahn at 322-4330 or by e-mail at russmolzahn@aol.com.

I always wondered about the health insurance aspect of these leagues. Can health insurance deny coverage for you if you participate in these things?

Can you imagine how horrified my daughter would be in a couple years when she realized what it was? She would die. Besides I am almost 32, and isn't that like retirement age for football players?
