| Everybody should work for the public sometime. So there I was yesterday at my shop when I get this phone call. The lady on the other end was either very lethargic or stoned put of her gored because trying to listen to her talk was very painfull. She explained that she had a Mazda 626 at another shop and that the shop was him-hawing around with fixing it. She said the parts were in the front seat. Could I work on it? I said no problem bring it by the shop. Later on a tow truck showed up with a Mazda MVP..... A totaly different animal than we talked about. The tow driver said I need to go look at it before he dropped it. The damn thing had been sitting in this gals front yard for a year with the front windows down. Her husband had attempted to tear apart the front of the engine himself to install a water pump and timing belt. Half the engine parts were sitting in the front seats with oil and grease all over the upolstery. The other half of the parts were presumably sitting in her front yard.... I called her house up and her husband answered the phone. I explained that we must have gotten our wires crossed. I said "your wife said this was a Mazda 626" He said what's the difference? Well, one is a car with a 4 cylinder, the other is a van with a 6 cylinder... This effects the estimate quite a bit. Then I said that his wife did not explain that the engine was already tore apart and that this would change the estimate too. He yelled back in the Phone, "Bullshit! I was right here when my wife told you that you Son-ofa-bitch! I'm coming down there and I'm kicking your fucking ass!!!" *click* So I went back to the Tow driver and told him what happened. He said "No problem. I have their credit card #. I'll just tow this back to their house and dump it back in the front yard and charge them for three tows." Needless to say, yesterday was very interesting.... You wonder why your mechanic seems generly cranky and pissy at the end of the day... It's becuase of people like that....

After working there for 25 or so years he decided he was done with everyones shit. People not paying bills being one of the big things. He now works for the city only working on city vehicles and other peoples cars who he knows are reliable. |

| The stickiest of the ickiest ![]() | Re: Everybody should work for the public sometime. That is totally ridiculous! I am not sure what I would have done, either laughed or gotten really pissed at the guy......probably a little of both. When I saw the title of this thread, "everyone should work for the public sometime" I was going to come in here and see if the community service I did when I was on probation counted.......but that does not really apply here =)

| Re: Everybody should work for the public sometime. I exacted my revenge today. I called every Mechanic in the area and all dealerships and warned them of this character. He won't be able to find any mechanics in a 30 mile radius to work on his Automobile. People don't realize that most mechanics are friends with each other and that we help each other out and look out for each other. (F*ck me? F*ck you!)

| Re: Everybody should work for the public sometime. Hey Thender, can you help fix my '67 Camaro? Try as I might, I haven't been able to get it to shift out of park, even though it seems like I can shift it, and the engine sounds fine as I do so... I'm thinking the problem involves faulty brakes or the burnt-out left headlight. Also...If I replace a windshield wiper, will the radio work again? Here's a picture of my rockin' ride...I hope you can help me get this '67 restored to top form!: ![]()

| Re: Everybody should work for the public sometime. Dealing with the public can also have it's plus side. I'm in management for the largest cleaning co. in the Midwest. I hear it everyday, and everything. From, they didn't refill the TP this AM cause when I went to the R/R 2 10 AM there was half a roll . . . really . . . you stupid bitch . . . . Maybe . .just maybe there was a whole roll @ 10:30PM the night before when they cleaned it. They never call me about the cleanliness, just the TP. I have on customer that SWEARS that my folks are stealing food out of the break room refrigerator. I know . .. I know . . . sometime you just say . . . what can I do to make it right . . . . but this customer . . . . I went into this account about 15 minutes before they closed. Put a video camera in the break room on wide angle and pushed record. This tape recorded for 2 hours, and caught one of her employess eating food after they were "Closed". Anywho . . . . dealing with the public can suck . . but remember . . . we are the public.
