If you're familar with Myspace or Zoints, you'll recognize TnTU's new member profile pages.

Everybody on tntu gets their own blogs, image uploads, messages, networks, etc via the Zoints local profile system.

You no longer have to register on zoints to use this system, it uses the user database from tntu.net

I've just got it installed, and I have a couple of bugs to work out, but you should be able to upload your avatar, images, post messages and blogs to your own tntu.net profile now, and share it with friends if you'd like. I'll try to keep mine updated more frequently.

You can also change the style to whatever you want.

Just click a user name to view their new profile.

Let me know if you run into any errors or questions. I do have a couple bugs I'm working on.

Well, it didn't erase them. It kept them on zoints.com. The new system is all local to tntu.net, it doesn't import any messages, etc. into tntu.net

Its safe to restart if you want. I went to my sneakydave.zoints.com profile and created a new "style" called Todd and Tyler Unauthorized, if you want to use that. While editing your style, hover over Style Settings, then Browse Member Styles, you'll see an option to choose "Todd and Tyler Unauthorized", click that, then go back to the page you were editing (profile, etc. ) and hover over "Style Settings" again, and choose "Change Current Style", then click on "Todd and Tyler Unauthorized" to apply that style to the page.

You can also create your own styles, and make them sharable for other members to use.

You can also click on the "privacy" box toward the top of the page, and choose which types of visitors to tntu.net can visit your pages.

It seems the drag and drop editing of your profile page works better in IE than in Firefox.

I've got the mod_rewrite problem fixed. You can access your profile by these urls...
http://tntu.net/members/YourUserName.html

or:
http://tntu.net/z/YourUserName

I've added a custom block that everybody at TnTU can use, its the "random band name" block. You can place it anywhere on your profile and visitors will see one of the many random band names in our database.

To add it, from your profile click Actions, then "Add new blocks". On the left, click "Custom Blocks", and the middle column will give you two custom blocks you can add, "vbulletin Custom Profile Fields" and "TnTU Random Band Name". Click on which one you want to add to your profile.

Then in the right column, there's a section that says "Add this block to", underneath this, click on profile, and the block will be added.

Then go back to your profile by clicking "profile" torward the top left of the page, and you should see the random band name block appear on your profile. From there, you can drag it to the left, right, or center of your profile.

I'm looking into an easy way to get people's throck totals and latest gifts on their profile next.

I'm upgrading to the latest release right now to fix some bugs. I'd like the have the ability to assign the "tntu theme" as the default style for profiles, hopefully that's fixed soon.

If you haven't already visited your profile, the "tnt style" will automatically be applied as the default when you do visit it. Otherwise, you will have to manually set the "tnt unauthorized style" to your pages yourself, if you want.

There's currently a bug or something in the profile system. If you're viewing your own profile in edit mode, there is some garbled drop down menu text that is appearing sometimes in both ff and IE. That problem is being looked at.

^Indeed...run your cursor over them and then (I did this:) off to a side of the screen. This causes them to shrink, and then you can access them one at a time.

Dave, any idea how to create a copy of one's current theme? I had to recreate my profile page twice last night because for some reason (I think it had something to do with adding/removing pictures...somehow) it nuked itself and went back to a blank page. To prevent this catastrophe in the future, I'd like to make a new theme based off my current one, but I'm afraid to click around or screw with it much more because I'm worried it would nuke itself again.

The sacrifices one must make to develop one's art...

Just a word of warning: one cannot (currently) create a new theme on a page other than the profile page...that's where the link takes you. For example, while on my Blog page, I considered using a different theme. I tried doing the same thing.... I tried changing my "vehicle" page to the same current theme that I had just created for my "Profile" page.. The profile page completely changed... Even the blocks changed size and format... When I tried to load a saved theme, it would revert back to the fucked up theme... So I even lost my saved theme...

(Did that ad to the confusion?

)

I'll check into those problems... you should be able to have any theme you want on any of the pages. I have better luck with edting in IE than in firefox. Every style you create, save it (and optionally make it shareable), and you should be able to apply it to any of the pages.

I have a different theme on each page that I have, but the changes only "took" when I was in IE (may be related to the garbled drop down menu problem)

There is a zoints dev guy looking at the problem at the moment, and when he's done, I'll let you guys know when things work a little better. sorry for the hassle.

Just lettting you know Dave, I can't edit my page at all. It keeps kicking me off with a message that says Internet Explorer can't find the page. I just checked it on a second computer and it does the same thing....

That part is good to go....

But now I can't edit the "block Title" "background"... When I click on the update arrow it just sits there and does nothing.......

AND.....

If I save a style and try to re-edit, I get kicked off of Explorer.... I have to close Explorer and reload to start editing again...

I know you said you're having a this looked at but I figured I would try to better explain what confuses me and may destroy other member's profiles...I tried this on both FF and IE, receiving the same result:

1-open your profile page(s)
2-(I tried both editor modes and the normal one...same difference) Select an editor mode
3-Click on a page other than your profile (ex. blog) in that top nav bar
4-From this page, go to style settings and choose to create a new style (doesn't appear to matter whether you wish to use a blank slate or base it off one of the defaults)
5-Slightly squint one eye, turn head at slight angle, and scratch head to indicate confusion --like this->

--because now you are editing your profile page

Currently (by doing these steps) choosing to create a style on another page will transport you back to one's profile page, implementing the newly selected style theme. This is where my first profile page design was nuked...since I don't think I had properly saved it as a custom style, it was apparently lost when trying to create a second (different) style on another page.

In the grand scheme of things, this issue can be defeated with basic education of the consequence of trying to create a new style without saving the current profile page's style first. Granted, having to redesign one's profile page constantly to apply the created them on other pages seems to be far more cumbersome than necessary.

Hope that made a bit more sense, and for now I'll continue to work around that issue.

P.S. I imagine there's only about 3 members on this site who would want my current theme (KU basketball) in its current form, but I did choose to share it.

I'm starting to consider creating and sharing more anti-Husker themes, but right now I offer no guarantee that I will throw one together

(not because I don't want to...the term is ending, finals are approaching, and life is getting more hectic by the day)

I was able to transfer my Theme over to the vehicle page last night with no problems so far.... So that was fixed too...
