Well the cortizone must be making her feel at least a bit better, because she was happier this morning and I saw her tail wag for the first time in a long time! :)

Still has not eaten much (except for some bologna I gave her yesterday because she loves it) but we'll see how the rest of today pans out.

was your dog exposed to edible mouse poison during your absence?



eating this will also cause a low red blood cell count. Large amounts will cause internal bleeding and kill an average sized dog. Might be worth checking into. Vets treat it with large doses of vitimins. B12 specifically I believe.

That's a good sign when they wag their tail again, and it is nice to see. Hopefully things will get better. If the vet finds out what was wrong let us know. I am very curious as to what could have happened. Did you ask your vet if the seperation anxitey could have caused this?

Well I got word back from the vet again today.

It looks like the cortizone shot has helped out a little bit. She is now back up to 10% from the 8% of yesterday. They gave me pills that I can give her at home to help her continue to get better this way, and once her red cell count is back to normal we will start to gradually cut back untill she is off of the medicine. There is a chance she'll have to take these pills for good, but they are not really expensive so that is a plus.

They did do a more in depth blood test again today, but I have to wait till tomorrow to get the results of that one.

We are both doing well. I am back to work, and the wife is still at home with a broken ankle.

As far as what happened, it was an accident that happened on the interstate that ended up involving 3 cars by the time it was done....a huge mess that's for sure.
