Think about it this way. O.J. was charged with 1st degree murder. You cannot get any worse than that. So by coming out and saying the crap he is cannot come back to hurt him. They had the bodies,etc....

Chris Edwards is charged with Murder - in the second degreee, I would think that murder in the second degree is a similar charge as murder in the first degree.

Doesn't matter. The boy got exactly what he deseved. He has been found guilty of 2nd degree murder!!! So everyone that stuck up for him can go ahead and walk him down to see Bubba!!

Here is the only explination I can think of (unless he actually meant to kill her)

He got the Bangkok battle swords, you get two swords for like what, 30 bucks online? And who hasn't screwed around playing ninja? I think that they were just mock fighting and he accidently stuck her, and instead of calling for the ambulance, he freaked, she died and he covered everything up in some sort of panic like trying to make it look like he didn't see her or nothing happened at all.

That's one explination and all. If it is true or not, I'm not quite sure.

then why not tell the truth. cop a plea and do 3 to 5 for manslaughter. now he's doing 25 minimum, which after seeing the evidence he more than deserves. there was a great deal of rage involved here. this was no fake ninja accident.

Sentencing is at the end of May! It is assumed that Edwards' sentence will be appealled.

This is what I found on appeals:
If you were convicted after a trial, you have an absolute right to appeal. An appeal is not a retrial of the case, but it is an examination of the trial record to ensure that the proceedings were conducted in a fair manner. This process varies depending upon the crime, but there are always time deadlines by which you must file an appeal.

There are numerous reasons for an appeal from a guilty verdict in a criminal case, including what's called "legal error." Legal error may include:

Allowing inadmissible evidence during the criminal process, including evidence that was obtained in violation of your constitutional rights
Lack of sufficient evidence to support a verdict of guilty
Mistakes in the judge's instructions to the jury regarding your case

You may also appeal due to misconduct on behalf of the jurors, or you may appeal if there is newly discovered evidence to exonerate you.

They said they were going to appeal the case, so we will have to see what grounds they file the appeal under.

I think that once the appeal is filed the NE Court of Appeals will look over the case and can dismiss the case - if they feel that the case, the judge, and the jury all acted appropriately. Then they can file with the Nebraska Supreme Court and then the Supreme Court. (I am not sure but I think they have to file the appeal and then the court will look at the file and determine if there is enough reason to hear the case.)
