I'm going to go tandem for the first time this summer with a bunch of friends, and I'm looking for places around the Omaha area to go.

If you have been somewhere that you would recommend let me know!!

Didn't Craig skydive with an outfit from Bellevue?

No guarantees...but I think that's where he jumped from a perfectly fine airplane

there is a group that jumps out of the North Omaha airport, and another in Lincoln. It is the biggest rush.you will love it.

Here i am right over Beaver Lake just as the rip cord is being pulled. I jumped with the group out of Lincoln. They hold a cancer benifit boogie each Summer at the Plattsmouth airport. I paid extra and had a photographer jump with us, he took a ton of stills and also a video of the jump. Well worth the extra cash.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm going to try and go again this Summer.

i would love to skydive its something ive always wanted to do at least once in my life. How would you go about doing it?

July 12th - 15th in Plattsmouth. They will have an Otter and Super Beech there from Arizona taking jumpers to 13,500 feet. Most local places only goto around 10,000 feet. Your freefall time will be much longer at the boogie.

It is usually pretty busy and the tandems fill up quick. I recommend either going Friday or early Saturday to get signed up. You will have to read and sign a bunch of release forms. About 30 minutes or so before your jump time you will have a short instruction session with your tandem instructor then it's off to the plane and the trill of a lifetime.

PS. Last year they had strippers in the hanger on Friday night.

Wow - that picture looks absolutely insane!!!!

I have already told myself when I go I am going to have it taped and stills taken as well. I'll have to post some up when I come back :)

You'll definitely have to do that. That free fall rush is unbelievable.

This one show the height a little better, it is a shot soon after exiting the plane. The line you see is attached to a very small chute (1 to 2 foot diameter?) to keep the tandem upright.

You are still screaming towards earth at around 120 mph though.

Every Dropzone has it's own pricing.

When I jumped at the Boogie it was also a Cancer Benifit. I paid $200 for the jump and $100 for the camera man I think. I know I paid almost $300 total.

The only place I have heard back from so far is Weeping Water, and it's about 170 for a tandem jump and 80 to tape it and take still pictures too.

I am probably going to end up going there if nobody else get's back with me by the end of the month!

Years ago, we came up to Omaha and jumped as well. A group of us went from work. It was like $160 at the time but you had more than a half hour training.

That is the same bunch that puts on the event at Plattsmouth. I'd highly recommend you wait for that event as you will be getting an additional 3,500 feet of freefall as the planes they bring in for the boogie go much higher. If they have contacted you, write them back and ask them for pricing at the P-town event.

Unfortunately I will not be jumping this year. A certain little Angel is going to use up all of my FUNds in hospital bills.

Anybody going? I'll definitely be there next year.
