| Post your favorite Marinades I usually just use the store bought crap and think it's time to experiment. Thender mentioned one awhile back in the shoutbox and I hope he posts it here as I forgot to write it down. Grilling season is upon us and I'd love to try some new marinades for chicken and steaks. If you have a favorite or two please post.

| Re: Post your favorite Marinades Steaks.......Garlic Salt, Seasoned salt/Mrs Dash ( depends on preference), and soy sauce. Let them sit, and flip them every half hour to hour for at east 4 hours. The steak will come out needing no sauce, seasoning or anything.

| Re: Post your favorite Marinades Im still experimenting with this but every once in a while I use cherry or maple wood chips, slighty damp so they smoke easier and then slow cook the steak or chicken

| Re: Post your favorite Marinades My grilling marinade for hamburgers or steaks.... 1 bottle of soy sauce in a bowl. mix in brown sugar, about 1/8 cup or more to taste. Pour in some olive oil, about enough to cover the surface. Now start putting in the spices, whatever spices you want. I usually use oregano, fresh minced garlic, celery seed, rosemary, basil, cumin, red pepper, paprika, etc. About 1/8 to 1/2 teaspoon each... Mix well and brush on both sides and let set at room temp for at least one hour. The longer you let set the stronger the taste. When grilling, I'll usually brush it on after flipping the meat over for about three times... The secret to the marinade is, the nastier it tastes in the bowl, the better it tastes on the cooked meat.

| Straight Pimpin ![]() | Re: Post your favorite Marinades Damn Fareway is closed on Sundays so I had to find something to grill at crappy Hy Vee (where there's a big brown pile, in every aisle). All they had that didn't look rotten was some bacon cheeseburger hamburger patties. It didn't make a lot of sense to grill these things because the cheese would just ooze out and make a mess of everything, and you couldn't taste the bacon in them anyway.

| Re: Post your favorite Marinades My standby marinade is some garlic salt, few dashes of liquid smoke, soy sauce and worchestershire sauce. Unfortunately I don't measure I just put it on and use the old sniff test. I like a good even smell of both sauces. Which isn't the same liquid amount. I sometimes also sprinkle on McCormicks Montreal Seasoning. My Aunt got me hooked on that stuffl. I haven't marinaded the meat in the seasoning I just sprinkle it on the meat when I put it on the grill. Then when I flip it I put it on the other side and make sure to flip it one more time. Man I love to grill!!!

It was still good though, it just wasn't thick enough to stick around on the steak.
