Since you were all so helpful with the nighttime diapers I have another question.

Baby Alexa, 3 weeks old yesterday, seems to have gas a lot and can't sleep until she farts. She will sleep for 10 - 15 minutes then wake up fussy. She will grunt, rip a huge fart then back to sleep for another 10 - 15 minutes. This cycle repeats over and over. This usually occurs from about midnight to around 9am in the morning, the worst possible time for us.

During the day and early evening she seems fine. Any ideas Mommies???

if shes bottle fed try switching to a lactose-free formula.

Try a warm bath before bed and also allow her some tummy time in the evening. If you want to you can also hold her in the football position with her facing down. This allows her tummy to lay on your arm. The firmness against their belly seems to give them support to prevent distension of the abdomen. I have found this helps them squeeze their farts out a bit easier. I think since she is ok during the day that this doesn't require a change in her diet. Their is also mylecon drops made by mylanta (i think). I have always bought the store brand because when it boils down to it the medication is the same thing. Hope this helps. BTW, quit stealing my throcks!!! Asshole!

She is 100% breastfed. Thanks everybody I have some ideas to try now.

Bought some Mylicon today when I went to Omaha. Hopefully this stuff works. Mommy needs sleep. We tried tummy time and bath last night. Tummy time was fun for about 10 minutes and the bath pissed her off.

I wish we could burp her but she is tough to burp. You can pat her very firm until your wrist fails and no burp sometimes.

I think that when we had our daughter the hospital said you should give 'em a good shake or something like that...

The drops seemed to help a ton but she still wanted to be awake from midnight to about 4 am. Still adjusting to night/day cycle but at least she wasn't fussing because she had to fart constantly.
