I'm in school for Marketing right now and I was thinking about applying for the account manager position with Big Sports 590. Does anybody know anything about this sort of job?

All I've heard is that it's a thankless job, that's why they have so many openings for it. If you apply and get it, let us know what you think.

Ha.....what do you mean by "thankless"?? I'm thinking about applying for it because I need a career change to marketing.

Well, they go through account reps pretty fast there at JBG, and probably everywhere else in radio too. They're always looking for account reps it seems, and from what I've heard (and I'm not in radio, so I might be talking out of my ass) the sales goals are pretty much unattainable. I assume(!) that's why we don't hear hardly any commercials on BS590 other than PSA's, but that's a non radio geek's opinion.

Are you implying that radio sales is as cut throat as being a host or a producer??
