Since the head moron John Gottschalk has retired? He's being replace by Terry Kroeger.

Omaha City Weekly Media Watch: Gottschalk Steps Down as World-Herald Publisher

As part of an highly unskilled experiment, Wild Bill and I have both asked, then demanded, the OWH to stop sending all the free junk mail to our mail boxes. Although assurances were made that we were "taken off the list", we still get the crap.

In another weird World Herald tactic, the newspaper requires employees to subscribe to the newspaper, yet they get reimbursed for the subscription. Is that how they keep the majority of their subscription base?

I about dropped them until I took over the shop and am now able to write off the low, low subscription price of $109.00 for 6 months...

Gotta keep up with Funky Winkerbean...

I refuse to get the paper, since in my opinion it's not that interesting to read. I thought that newspapers were suppose to have an unbiased opinion, but the World Herald practically refuses to print any story regarding Todd and Tyler, and probably won't anytime in the future. Regardless of who's in charge I don't think that will change how things are ran at the paper.

The OWH is one of many newspapers and news outlets I peruse almost daily--it serves its purpose, even if that purpose is sometimes just keeping me awake in an hour-long science lecture

Besides, the OWH is my number one source when I want to read about the $1.32 million Ralston Trail

The Weird-Harold doesn't reimburse its folks for their subscriptions - are you kidding? And its employees can't park in its parking garage unless they subscribe. Nice.

I was just thinking about the paper though.

I would buy it if it was about 4 inches wide, came in a roll, and was a nice soft 2-ply.

Not quite, supposedly employees are required to subscribe, but they DO get reimbursed for it. It keeps the subscription numbers up I guess.

I haven't heard about their parking garage policy. If they only own one parking garage I'm thinking about, they lease space (the top 2 floors I think) to anybody that wants to pay the monthly rate.
