Our new elementary/middle school has pictures in the main entrance of all the past 6 different school buildings we used to have and they are mosaics made from past student photos... Pretty damn neat!

There is a web site, or some software that you can upload as many images as you can, and then upload an image of what you want the moasic to be, and it'll try its best to create it based on the images you've chosen. I think it just goes through pixel by pixel and matches an image that closely resembles that pixels color.
