This is a quick FAQ about the upcoming All Pro Football 2K8 game coming out this summer that was recently announced. These are the facts from what I've read on various boards, and the official announcement on 2ksports.com. I create this FAQ to help dispell some of the rumors or assumptions on APF 2K8. I'll update it when more information is verified.

What is All Pro Football 2K8?
APF 2K8 is a new football game coming out this summer, possibly August. It has been widely rumored to be in development, and just recently confirmed that it will be released this year. APF 2K8 is the result of EA Sports' licensing of NFL football for their Madden football franchise. The predecessor to APF 2K8 was NFL 2K5, developed and published by the same companies. The release date seems to have been firmed up as 7/16/2007 (available on Tuesday 7/17/2007)

What consoles will All Pro 2K8 be available on?
The Xbox 360, the Playstation 3, and possibly the Nintendo Wii (not confirmed). The game will not be available on the original Xbox or Playstation 2 consoles.

When will NFL 2K5 be backward compatible with Xbox 360?
It probably will never be. It is rumored that EA Sports and Microsoft have a deal in which NFL 2K5 won't be made backward compatible with the original Xbox in order to sell more copies of Madden 2007 when the Xbox 360 was originally launched.

When will NFL 2K5 be backward compatible with Playstation 3?
It already is.

Who is making All Pro Football 2K8?
Virtual Concepts, which made all of the NFL2K titles, as well as older Madden (boo!) football games on older consoles. Virtual Concepts (2K football and basketball games) and Kush Games (2K baseball and hockey games) are part of 2K Sports.

Will I see my favorite NFL teams in the APF 2K8 game?
No. Part of EA Sports license includes all NFL teams. The Pittsburgh "Iron Men", A NY "Jets" type of team, and a "Rhinos" (Chargers) team have been confirmed.

Will I see my favorite NFL player in the APF 2K8 game?
Maybe, maybe not. If you're favorite player(s) is part of the NFL Player's Association, you won't see them because EA Sports has licensed the NFLPA names and likenesses. The game will have individually licensed legends from the NFL that are no longer playing. There will be lip synced dialog for some players and the coaches in the game. 240 "legendary" players have been confirmed, from John Elway to Bubby Brister.

Will I see my favorite NFL stadium in the APF 2K8 game?
No. Part of EA Sports license includes all NFL stadiums. All stadiums seem to have themes for their teams.

Why doesn't 2K Sports make a college or arena league football game?
EA Sports has purchased licenses for almost all types of american football leagues, conferences, etc. including NCAA, NJCAA, AFL, and NFL Europa.

How much is All Pro Football going to cost me?
Pre orders for the game are now available on 2K Sports - Upgrade Your Browser for $59.99.

Will I be able to customize anything in APF 2K8?
There have been many requests and suggestions to make the game as customizable as possible, including specialized plays, rules, stadiums, create a player, etc. It is assumed that at the least, a player will be able to select/create a city, stadium, team, players, unitorms, and logos. It is also assumed that everything available in 2K5 will be available in APF 2K8, including online leagues and franchise mode. No details have been given about The Crib, VIP System, or First Person Football. It has been confirmed in Game Informer magazine that you won't be able to create a team and name it after your favorite NFL team.

IGN: The New Generation of Animation

It is hinted that All Pro Football 2K8 will feature the highly anticipated NaturalMotion software.

Last February, NaturalMotion announced a partnership deal with Rockstar Games, Inc., the publishing label responsible for Grand Theft Auto. Rockstar Games is also in the same family of companies as 2K Sports. When pressed about future projects using NaturalMotion's animation technology, one of the NaturalMotion employees at GDC brought up the deal they have with Rockstar now. I commented that he must be talking about Grand Theft Auto IV, and he said no, not exactly. "Dan" and "Peter", the fictional play by play and color commentators from the NFL 2k series have nearly been confirmed...

IMDB reports that Terence McGovern (Dan) and Jay Styne (Peter) are doing voice work for APF2K8.

This game is driving me crazy.

3 weeks until the game is released, and they haven't shown any game play footage, and none of the top gamer sites have hardly mentioned it.

Either 2k Sports has a surprise, or they're ashamed of it. I think the latter.
