Not sure if this is considered a sport..........but I thought I would post it here anyways.

Has anyone been sky diving in / around Omaha? This summer I want to find a place close that I can do it.

If you have, how long were the classes that you have to take? And do you have to go tandem with someone your first jump? How much did it cost?

I have wanted to sky dive for a long time, and this summer I have to get it done!

I think one could consider this an extreme sport...or at least an extreme activity

I remember Craig doing some sky diving in/around Omaha, and Travis did a tandem sky dive a LONG time ago (I think...August of 2000 according to my TnTU search)

Dammit, I can't remember the name of the group jumped with, perhaps even last summer or the year before...Maybe Jeremy/Craig/anyone with a better memory than I could answer these questions for ya

However, I DO think there is a place "close" that you can do it...dunno on the other questions. Hell, if you get bored/desperate, you could call Craig during the "Best of"s this week

I think I have heard this place advertised somewhere before, but I have never done before so could not say how they are.

I think you have to certified before you can jump on your own. Which I think would require some tandem jumps first.

I've done it,and yes you tandem first. But damn,it is a rush.

I'd love to try it too. Except one question, If your shute doesn't open is it true you bounce the first time you hit the ground?

I am not sure if you bounce or not, but they offer to video tape the jump for you, so if something goes wrong, I'll be sure to tell someone to post a short clip of it here so you all can see =)

depending on your weight and trajectory, you will bounce up to 10 feet.

Damn............that sucks to be that guy.

Base jumping has to be one of the craziest / stupidest things ever though. I would skydive 100 times in one day before i would base jump off the top of anything.
