"After flirting with retirement for years, Brett Favre means it this time. The Green Bay Packers quarterback quit after a 17-season career in which he dazzled fans with his grit, heart and rocket of an arm.

“I know I can still play, but it’s like I told my wife, I’m just tired mentally. I’m just tired,” Favre told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message.

Tuesday’s surprise move comes after the 38-year-old three-time MVP set several league records, including most career touchdown passes, in one of his most successful seasons."

Old? He's 38, and playing in the NFL. Shit, my body hurts just from playing in college and working. Thanks for the memories Brett. No I'm not a Packer fan but it has been great to watch a great player.

I am not going to deny he was a great player. I'm just saying that in "football" years he's older than hell. And as far as the length of his career,he is not getting pounded on every play,granted, he did take some shots,your going to. So that helped ALOT .. If he was picking himself up off the grass every play, he would've already retired,guarantee.
