ESPN.com has asked a panel of 19 experts and former drivers to vote for the top drivers that piloted anything with wheels and an engine, and from those votes has compiled a list of the Top 25 drivers of all time. Spanning a wide range of racing disciplines the list is being revealed in segments this week on the leading sports site. The feature package launched Monday, by revealing the 25-21-ranked drivers and will reveal five drivers a day for the rest of the week, unveiling the 5-1-ranked drivers on Friday, leading into the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. The list so far:

25. Steve Kinser
24. Nigel Mansell
23. Don Garlits
22. Niki Lauda
21. Shirley Muldowney
20. Darrell Waltrip
19. Emerson Fittipaldi
18. Alain Prost
17. Bobby Unser
16. Tony Stewart
15. Al Unser
14. Cale Yarborough
13. Jackie Stewart
12. John Force
11. Rick Mears

Who's going to be #1??? I'm guessing it will be Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt or maybe even Ayrton Senna.

World Karting Assoc. championship in 1987.

National Midget series champion in 1994.

In 1995 he won USAC's version of the "Triple Crown" winning the Championship in National Midget, Sprint, and Silver Crown.

IRL Champion in 1997.

2002 & 2005 NASCAR Cup Champion.

He deserves a spot. Now if one of the Busch brothers show up on that list.

I agree that Sr. should not be in the top 10 in all time, maybe top 25.

I also don't think Rusty and Mark should be in the top 10. Most of these names, not all, succeeded in many different types of racing which is why I say Mario or A.J. will be #1.

And Senna was just a mad man on the track, win at all costs. He even crashed one of his competitors on purpose to secure a championship.

And yes, if Shirley Mouldowney makes the list then Eddie had BETTER be on it.

I enjoy watching Drag Racing every now and then but just being able to have a quick reaction time and mashing the pedal doesn't make a great driver of all time.

At least Eddie was also successful racing bikes and boats also.

That's cool!

I just did a little reading on him and discovered that he was the first guy to do a "burn out" before staging a drag race. The first guy to use smaller front tires in drag racing and also introduced the front wing in drag racing. The guy was also quite the innovator.

There are a lot of road racing guys who are great drivers that most neck car people never heard of that also drove F-1 or Indy.

I will forever say that Richard Petty is EXTREMELY over rated. The guy won most of his races back when NASCAR used to run 3 to 5 races a week. He was the only guy who had a huge sponsor, could afford to have top notch equipment and was able to travel to all of the races. Most racers were lucky to be able to afford to race at one track a week.

Great driver yes but not the greatest like a lot of people make him out to be. David Pearson should be above Richard.
