TnT Show 01-03-2000

Monday 1-3-00

After a long Christmas break, Todd and Tyler came back to the Omaha airwaves this morning. They discussed the UN-event that was Y2K, talked about their Christmas/New Years celebrations and travels and briefly touched on the Husker game last night. Most of the talk about the game revolved around how Channel 6 has a bunch of fatties working for them and how the football game didn’t really mean anything with respect to the national championship. They also joked about the fat Judd who got up on stage before last night’s game dressed in a cow outfit.

Another point of discussion throughout today’s show related to how Omaha celebrated the New Year at 6:18pm instead of midnight like the rest of the world. Frankly, it seemed like Tyler was disgusted by the idiotic attempt to make Omaha look like a “family town”. The basis for Tyler’s disgust is quite understandable. “Is Omaha the only city on the planet with families? Of course not!” The guys took a few calls about the lights and fireworks downtown on New Years Eve and joked about how some of the lights didn’t go on because they weren’t plugged in.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today. He briefly discussed his shows on New Years Eve at the Funny Bone and then delivered a commentary on how nothing happened relating to Y2K. It was pretty humorous. I don’t think Larry will be back in town for quite some time so make sure to tune into TnT daily for your Cable Guy fix.

Lisa and Travis each checked in from Arizona today. The guys gave Travis a hard time about wearing his “Cosby” sweater on TV. Trav also told the guys that he didn’t buy his wife the toaster for Christmas that he’d been planning. He went to a jewelry store and bought her a $500+ diamond necklace! Unfortunately, his lovely wife took the necklace back to the store because she felt Travis had spent too much money on her. That little tidbit of Travis’s married live brought many calls from listeners wanting to give him a hard time for “splurging” and also to give his wife a hard time for taking the gift back.

Lisa told the guys about her New Years Eve partying and discussed some of the things she was doing in preparation for the Husker Game. Then the fat jokes started pouring in about that famous fatty Steve that Lisa hangs out with in AZ and the conversation started to come to a quick close. Lisa is going to be staying in Arizona throughout the week but Travis will be back in town and on the air with TnT tomorrow morning.

The main focus of today’s show seemed to be discussing Y2K freaks and stories about them. Many listeners checked in with tales of their friends, family members and/or neighbors who went a little crazy over the hysteria. There were stories about pipe bombs, 55-gallon drums full of fuel, pallets of canned food and more. One caller checked in and told the guys about a neighbor that spent $7000 on fireworks but got busted coming into NE and had to pay a fine equaling double the amount of the fireworks ($14000). Everyone got a kick out of hearing that the caller and his family sat back and watched their neighbor’s $21000 firework show.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for today’s update. It’s nice to see you all back here again. Check back here tomorrow for the Tuesday version. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-
