| Administrator ![]() ![]() | TnT Show 01-04-2002 Friday 1-4-02 Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with some discussion of last nights football game. They were pleased at the outcome and said that they were both cheering on Miami all night. TnT seemed chipper today and mentioned that they felt as though a great weight had been lifted off their shoulders, as they now dont have to listen to Husker fans and the Husker media (a.k.a Channel 3, 6 and 7) talk about the season any longer. Donnie, the closest person to being a Husker freak as part of the TnT crew, was blatantly pissed at Solich for poor play calling. He came in studio and ranted about the Huskers and their coaching staff for a while and TnT really got a kick out of it. Also early in the program, TnT were joined by friends of the show, Black Tony and Michael the musicologist/lawyer/Grim Reaper. They joined in on the topics of the day. At one point, it was reaching about a quarter after 7 and the sun hadnt come up. Michael mentioned that it was up in Iowa, alluding to old saying regarding when bad things happen, The sun will still come up tomorrow. His comment made me laugh out loud as I pictured a dark cloud blocking out the sun hovering only over Big Red territory. TnT read yet another hate e-mail this morning. This one was a bit different, though. The letter was from someone who claimed to have actually worked for Z-92 in the past, specifically the sales department. TnT didnt recognize her name but admitted that not knowing the names of the sales people is a common occurrence, as sales people tend to come and go rather quickly and somehow, oddly, most of the people who sell advertising for Z-92 dont seem to like Todd and Tyler. The letter bashed on Donnie and then moved on to Tyler, saying he scowled at her in the hallways when she used to say hi to him. As the e-mailer continued, she said that she thought Todd was nice and had a big heart, which prompted a chuckle everyone. The guys pondered whether or not the e-mailer might have had the two confused but were unable to come to a conclusion. The guys were curious about what sort of reactions Husker fans had to last nights loss but instead of having pissed off Husker fans call in all morning and infect their show with the Husker Virus, they asked for other listeners who had witnessed property damage or unruly Husker fan behavior to check in with their tales. Throughout the show, calls came in and helped to prove Todd and Tylers long-time point that fanatic Husker fans are some of the most dreadful human beings alive. There were several tales of damaged TV sets; one was thrown out a window while another one was smashed with a football helmet full of chip dip. Another guy told about how his friends car was vandalized because he had a Miami Dolphin air freshener in it while another caller talked about a Husker fan that broke a Miami flag pole in a bar because he was so upset. There were quite a few stories from listeners who said they witnessed superstitious Husker fans trying to overcome the powers of the universe and somehow sway the outcome of the game into their favor by doing things such as leaving the room, sitting on a curb, turning the TV off completely or attending the game at another location because of some sort of superstitious ideas. Travis checked in from Pasadena one last time as he prepared to return to Omaha after covering the Rose Bowl. He discussed the crowd, which was about 75% Husker fans as well as talking about their reactions to the loss. For the most part, Travis said that the fans just left. He also talked about his very short post-game coverage and told TnT about the 20 arrests that were attributed to the Rose Bowl activities. Even though he didnt have details on whether the arrests were Husker fans or Miami fans, he did say that of the 20 arrests, 18 were for disorderly conduct and 2 were for assault. Travis will be rejoining the Todd and Tyler show on Monday morning so make sure to tune in. Donnie will most likely repeat his Husker rant from early this morning to Travis so dont miss it. The guys spoke with Susan Spencer of CBSs 48 Hours program about tonights broadcast. The story discussed on the program is about a 14-year-old Florida girl who was lured into a child porn/prostitution ring by a 35-year-old Greek man via the computer. She gave some details of the story and it sounds like it could be pretty interesting. Tune in Channel 3 this evening for 48 Hours. Steve White from the Funny Bone joined Todd and Tyler this morning. Not only is he a comedian, but hes also an actor with a long list of film credentials including Harlem Nights, Coming To America, Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing, and a ton of others. Steve has been in several Spike Lee films and is also a friend of Eddy Murphy, who he hasnt talked to in about a year. He even owns one of Eddy Murphys old cars, which he plans to sell for a hefty profit soon. The guys spent quite a bit of time talking about movies this morning and Steve seemed to do an excellent job fitting in with the structure of the show. He came across as a truly funny guy (yea, I know. Hes a comedian. What should I expect?) and from what I heard on the show this morning, I would strongly suggest you all get out to the Funny Bone and see his act this weekend. Hes never been to Omaha before so he will be fresh comedy meat even to all of you regular Funny Bone attendees. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations. Yesterday the guys phoned several Miami businesses to see if any of them had spirit days. One of the calls was to a radio station where the guys spoke with a very cool lady named Margaret. TnT promised to call her back today regardless of the outcome of last nights game and thats exactly what they did. They talked about the game for a bit and Margaret said that today, unlike yesterday, there was quite a bit of Miami gear being sported by the people in the office. Todd and Tyler really seem to like her so the chances are pretty good that if the guys ever need a Miami correspondent, theyll be phoning Margaret again in the future. Step Child reunited on the TnT show today for the first time in a couple of years. The band is getting back together to perform one show at the Ranch Bowl tomorrow night. They did a couple of great covers for TnT, Devil Woman and Mama Tequila. Check them out tomorrow night because they probably wont be getting back together like this again until someone else in the band needs extra cash to cover the light bill. Well, thats the update for today. Tune in on Sunday night at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and then rejoin TnT back on the air at 5:30am on Monday morning. Ill be absent next week so there wont be any written updates. That means all of you Todd and Tyler fans are going to have to catch all 4 ½ hours of the show every day either live or during the nightly 3rd Shift Replay in order to stay caught up on everything. Thanks for watching. Good night. "Pump it up until you can feel it. Pump it up, when you don't really need it." - Elvis Costello |
