| Wookin Pa Nub ![]() ![]() | TnT Show 10-20-1999 10-20-99 Todd and Tyler started of this mornings show talking about tonights Timberwolves/Bucks NBA exhibition basketball game taking place at the Civic. TnT are going to be doing one of those half court shots for $10,000 contests between the first and second period. The guys needed a contestant for tonights shot. They thought theyd find a basketball hoop in the area, offer to let people try out and then pick the best one from the tryout to take the $10,000 shot tonight at the game. It didnt take them long to get someone to volunteer use of his or her basketball hoop. TnT dubbed this mornings little contest the Pumpkin Dunkin contest. Thats right, the contestants this morning had to shoot pumpkins through the hoop in order to be considered for tonights money shot. More to follow below. The guys spent some time talking about the VH1 show titled The List again. Tyler is constantly getting pissed off at that show because the people they get to participate usually dont think like regular, every day people. TnT ranted about the show and then took some calls from listeners who seemed just as pissed off at The List as they were. Larry the Cable Guy called TnT today and gave them another Civil War letter commentary. Larry claims that the letter he read today was from his great, great, great, great, great, great grandpa Lawrence the Telegraph Guy. It was a pretty funny letter filled with all sorts of Civil War references and humor. Truthfully, I was surprised not to hear an Oprah reference in the commentary this morning. What a pleasant surprise. Dana Altman, coach of the Creighton Blue Jays came by this morning. He hung out in studio with TnT for a bit and talked some Blue Jay basketball. After the sun came up, TnT sent Dana out to Ralston with Slave Boy Chris and Barb the Prize Lady. The 3 went to the house of the basketball hoop volunteer and set up for the Pumpkin Dunkin contest. TnT let Dana judge the competition and decide whod take part in the $10,000 shot tonight at the NBA exhibition game. About 8 guys showed up to try to dunk the pumpkin into the hoop but after Dana looked them all over, the changed the contest a little bit. Dana didnt think there was any way any of the guys who showed up could dunk a pumpkin. Instead, they all shot the pumpkin towards the hoop from about 10 feet away. TnT checked in with the group a few times throughout the show. It was pretty obvious that the chances of any of the contestants being good enough at basketball to make a half court shot tonight were very slim. I think only one of the contestants actually made the pumpkin shot. His name is Bill and hes the guy who actually won the contest and gets to try for the money tonight. TnT spoke with Mike Teaboe today. He used to coach the Omaha Racers before they were shut down and now hes the assistant coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. TnT hadnt talked to him in quite a while so they were pretty happy to see how Mike has been. They had an interesting conversation about basketball in Omaha and on the pro level elsewhere. TnT were supposed to have an interview with the coach of Texas today but for some odd reason, the interview got cancelled. TnT were a bit upset at this because they were looking forward to talking to the coach. After all, the Huskers are playing them this weekend! Well, while TnT were bitching about the pulled interview, Donnie somehow got the Texas quarterback, Major Applewhite, on the phone! The guys didnt believe it was really Major at first but Travis confirmed that it was once he heard his voice. So TnT spent about 15 minutes talking to the Texas quarterback about their team, being recruited in Texas, his girlfriend, school and Texas strip clubs. They also talked to him about his favorite band, 311, and how theyre from Omaha. Major said he is looking forward to playing the Huskers this weekend although hes affording them quite a bit of respect because the Huskers are such a powerhouse. He didnt seem to be willing to say that he thought his team would monster stomp the Huskers but he didnt want to say it would be a complete blowout either. It was a surprisingly great interview and Major was a super cool and nice guy. After the interview, Lisa was a bit pissed. She wanted to hate Major Applewhite so much but after hearing the conversation, she couldnt come up with any reason to hate him. It was a very funny predicament for her. The latter portion of the show was spent discussing Czechs. Dont ask me why. Someone made a comment early in the show about how something is said in Czech. Then the show turned into a huge discussion about Czech culture, Czech history in Nebraska and how to say dirty words in Czech. For the last hour of the show, I sort of went into this mental meltdown zone. Hearing an hour + of Nebraska Czech talk made my brain hurt. Maybe it had something to do with Donnies constant input on the subject, I dont know. Anyway, I suppose that portion of todays show was aimed at educating the un-Czech Nebraskans about the Czech Nebraskans. I hope you all learned something. I did, I now know how to say 3 four-letter words in Czech. Dont forget to join TnT tonight at the NBA game at the Civic. I dont know whether or not the guys said what time it started so call the ticket office for that information. Thats all Ive got for the update this morning. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. the Alien Guy-
