| Wookin Pa Nub ![]() ![]() | TnT Show 10-21-1999 Thursday 10-21-99 Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning talking about the NBA exhibition game they attended last night. They said the crowd was pretty good (about 7000+) and commented on the game itself. The man who won the opportunity to take the half court shot for $10,000 didnt make it. He got close, however, hitting the backboard. He called in early on and thanked TnT for the chance and the tickets he was provided. There was a lot of talk this morning about Halloween. One of TnTs listeners checked in and informed them that his sons elementary school had cancelled their Halloween party. After some discussion, they found out that the party had been cancelled because there were some holy parents who believe that Halloween is a demonic holiday and that their kids shouldnt participate in it. I can see their argument but come on. What 10-year-old kid is concerned about Satanism? None! All they want to do is dress up in a costume and eat lots of candy. Its parents like these that will eventually push their children so hard that the kids will one day end up in a clock tower drawing beads on fellow classmates. But I digress (sorry about that). So TnT spent a good portion of the show taking calls from parents, administrators and others about various schools in the area and what theyre doing about this trend. Some schools are changing because the powers that be are pushovers for the holy parents. Other schools are changing slightly and instead of calling them Halloween parties have resorted to calling them Fall Festivals. Then there were a few schools who havent encountered the parental problem yet and havent changed anything. As we get nearer to the holiday, the discussion will probably end up surfacing again. During the discussion of the Halloween topic, TnT got a call from a guy named Byron from Avoca, IA. He prefaced his call by telling TnT he was gay. I dont know why he did, but he did. Anyway, TnT talked to him for quite a while about being gay and Byron was very entertaining (and obviously flaming). He told TnT about how he loved gym class in high school and how he used to pretend to be Wonder Woman as a kid. TnT tried to convince him to run for mayor of Avoca because no one else seems to be interested in doing it. Byron pondered it for a bit. He called in again later in the show and continued the conversation and said he was still thinking about running. After a while, his sister called in and commented on her brothers conversations with TnT. She said something along the lines of, You guys have been talking about my brother. TnT asked her who her brother was and her reply was Wonder Woman. It was incredibly funny. Hopefully Wonder Woman will call back in often. Lisa Volinec is trying to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundations benefit tomorrow night but was a little short on the amount shes raised so far. In an effort to help Lisa raise more money, TnT sent her out to 144th and Oakview Drive to beg for money. She had some empty milk jugs and a sign that said Fill my jugs. The reason they chose the Oakview location is because theyve seen a guy begging for money at the same place for about 5 years. TnT spent some time talking about that guy and taking calls from listeners regarding panhandling so it was inevitable that the show progressed into a discussion about panhandling. The discussion continued on for quite a while and TnT even got a call from a guy who had been a beggar at one time but has sense cleaned up his life and now leads a normal existence. It was informative and entertaining all at the same time. By the end of the show, Lisa had raised a couple of hundred dollars for the CF Foundation! I believe that TnT are going to send Lisa out to do the same thing again tomorrow so make sure you drive by whatever location is chosen and give some money to help her out. Ah yes, panhandling
the softer side of Todd and Tyler. John Marks from the Funny Bone came in studio today. He was there to promote his Bone show and also to pimp a book hes got out called Lost Quotes. John was pretty funny and seemed to enjoy his time on the show. The few Lost Quotes he shared with TnT were amusing as well. Id suggest checking out his website at http://www.lostquotes.com target=blank>Lostquotes.com. Also, call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations to see John this weekend. TnT spent some time this morning counting Huskers with caps in their asses. The reason behind the odd discussion is that Tom Osborne said somewhere that there were 10 Huskers shot during his time as head coach in Lincoln. He gave some years in which the shootings occurred but I didnt catch it. Anyway, TnT tried to see if they could recall all 10 that had been shot. I believe by the end of the show theyd gotten up to 6 or 7 names. The discussion may carry on into tomorrows show. Well, that concludes the update for today. Check back here tomorrow for the always epic Friday version. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. the Alien Guy-
