TnT Show 10-28-1999

Thursday 10-28-99

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning talking about a sexual harassment meeting they had to sit through yesterday. The guys didn’t do anything wrong, it was just a meeting arranged by the corporate bosses that they had to attend. They also replayed the car was sex clip from yesterday and read some message board posts regarding the bit. They did a little trained counseling for a guy who was upset that his girlfriend had left him. His story sounded like he’d done nothing wrong and that the girl in the tale just didn’t know what she wanted. Later, one of the girl’s friends called in and told another side to the story saying that the boyfriend who had originally called TnT had some problems of his own including drug and gambling addictions (allegedly). They also got onto the topic of nicknames. They wondered how one could acquire a nickname such as “Bud” when your real first name didn’t even sound like “Bud”.

In an attempt to find out the origins of “Bud”, TnT tried to call Lisa’s mom at work. Lisa’s stepdad is named Bud and TnT thought her mom would be able to clarify how “Bud” came about. Well, after 2 hours of trying, they still didn’t get a hold of her mom. Lisa joked and said that her mom likes her other sister better and that’s why she wasn’t answering. Jokingly, the guys tried to call Donnie and Tyler’s dads to find out if they were the most liked children but weren’t able to get a hold of them. After a few trys, Todd got a hold of his mom and found out that her favorite changed between Todd and his sister quite often. Donnie’s mom spoke to TnT and said she didn’t like any of her kids (at least I think that’s what she said). The gang never did end up getting a hold of Lisa’s mom, Tyler’s dad or Donnie’s dad.

TnT sent Slave Boy Chris to Blair this morning to meet up with Heavy C of the Nuclear Bees. Heavy C was assigned to be Slave Boy’s guide through the town as they took part in the Blair Ditch Project. The concept of the Blair Ditch Project stemmed from Todd’s days in North Dakota. As a kid, he and his friends would run up to someone’s door, ring the bell and then run away. “Dong and Dash” as they called it. Anyway, TnT thought it’d be a good idea to have Slave Boy Chris do the same thing in Blair. So after waking up Heavy C two times, the bit finally got under way. They took some calls from Blair residents who wanted to play the game. If the resident was able to catch Slave Boy after he’d rung the doorbell and ran to the Chub but before he reached the Chub, they’d win a prize pack. TnT checked in the pair of overweight smokers throughout the show just so they could hear the duo gasping for air. A few of the listeners even caught up to the guys. It was pretty funny.

The band White Man’s Overbite was supposed to come in this morning and play some music for TnT but they stiffed the show. It didn’t really matter, though, because D’Vine also stopped by. They played a few songs and then whipped out a great version of Poison’s “Talk Dirty To Me” with Corky singing the lead vocals.

Mike Hessman from the Funny Bone came in studio this morning and hung out for a bit. He’s the second headliner from Georgia in a row to appear at the Bone. He’s also the holder of a rather strange record. He’s got the record for saying the most jokes in a 24-hour period. With a count of 12,000+, he beat the former record holder by nearly 4,000 jokes! The record was set a few years back in the Columbus, OH Funny Bone. Mike seemed like a really funny guy so make sure you check him out at the Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

TnT spoke to Major Applewhite again this morning. They called to congratulate him on his victory over the Huskers. He propped up the NU team and made some comments about how great the Nebraska fans were. TnT also had a surprise for Major. After their last conversation, TnT found out that he is a huge 311 fan. Well, the stepmom of the lead singer for 311 heard the interview and decided she’d try to hook Major up with backstage passes to one of the band’s Texas shows. So TnT had her and Major on the phone this morning and they made arrangements for the backstage passes. It was pretty cool.

Tomorrow, TnT will have their second Halloween Radio Theatre production starring the Channel 7 players. They’ll also discuss the upcoming Freakers Ball, visit with comedy friends, they may have another band in studio and much more. Stay tuned. Well, that’s all for today’s update. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alienguy-
