Thursday 11-4-99

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by making arrangements for the Matthew McConaughey’s birthday celebration. They asked for male callers who would be willing to get naked with another dude as well as dance around and play the bongos. It didn’t take long to get a few guys to agree once they mentioned that they’d be giving up cash, gift certificates and a pair of Husker tickets as the prize pack. It turns out that both of the contestants were in Lincoln so once TnT got Slave Boy Chris out of bed, they sent him out of town to meet the two guys. TnT found out that one of the contestants was a student at UNL so they decided they’d hold the birthday celebration in his dorm. Later in the show, Slave Boy Chris picked up one of the guys and drove him to the dorm room of the other guy so they could get started. Chris did the play-by-play as Joe and Darren undressed, turned on some Beastie Boys and began to bang on the bongos and dance around like Pigmies. TnT checked in with the nude dancing duo several times throughout the show, each time making Slave Boy Chris detail what was going on. It was very, very funny.

The funniest part of the naked dancing bongo-playing guys wasn’t the fact that they were naked, dancing and playing the bongos. It was that other students in the same dorm room were listening to the show and decided they’d pull a prank on their fellow dorm-mate. They called security and reported loud noises coming from the room. A campus security officer was then sent out to investigate. Meanwhile, TnT knew the officer was coming because one of the UNL students tipped them off. Slave Boy Chris and the two naked dudes, on the other hand, didn’t know. So the officer got there, checked everything out, saw the two naked guys and started laughing is ass off. Thankfully, he was amused by the whole situation and was willing to talk to TnT on the phone about it. In the end, the two naked guys seemed to enjoy themselves and the whole idea turned out to be a very funny radio bit.

TnT conducted an interview with Warren Haines this morning. Don’t worry, I’d never heard of him either. He played with the Almon Brothers for years as well as many other famous rock stars. Right now he’s touring with the legendary Bob Dylan. TnT talked to Warren about his career as well as the many greats he’s worked with over the years. It was a surprisingly good interview. I think both TnT were also surprised at how well it went off.

Becky Pedigo from the Funny Bone came in studio this morning. She hung out with TnT and interjected her thoughts on the show. TnT gave her the Glamour Magazine penis poll. She answered the questions but didn’t seem to amazingly thrilled about the whole thing. Stop on out to the Bone this weekend and catch the show. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

TnT spent some time talking about kidney stones this morning. One of their long-time callers, Doug, checked in from the hospital saying he was waiting for a rock from his throck. Doug said that the stone(s) is just small enough to not require surgery. The guys checked in with Doug several times and joked with him about it. They even tried to help him pee by playing water sound effects but it did no good. The guys genuinely felt sorry for the pain Doug is going to be going through but joked with Doug about it anyway because he didn’t seem to mind. I’m sure we’ll get an update on the progress of Doug’s stones tomorrow so stay tuned.

Tomorrow is the Tire Burnout taking place at the 60th & Ames location of Tires Plus. 1st Prize is going to be a $250 gift certificate to Tires Plus so all of you motor heads better make sure to get out to the event. I believe it will start around 7am so show up early. There really didn’t seem to be any rules so I guess any car goes. By the way, the winner is going to be judged by Slave Boy Chris. He’ll try to determine which contestant has the longest sustained audio (A.K.A. squawk, squeal or screech).
