TnT Show 11-16-1999

Tuesday 11-16-99

This morning’s show marked Todd and Tyler’s 6 year, 3 month anniversary working in Omaha. And how did TnT start off their show on such a monumental day? They read a bitchy e-mail from a truck driver complaining about their “Truck drivers. Sometimes they’re exactly what you think they are” comedy spot.

At the start of the show, TnT got a call from a lady who was in the hospital. She had a huge cyst on her ovary and was going to have it removed this afternoon. She was bored out of her mind in the hospital without her radio and thought she’d call up TnT and listen to the show on hold. TnT let her listen through the phone for the entire show and checked in with her frequently. The caller was actually pretty funny. Then again, it could have been the pain medication she was on. At the end of the show, TnT wished her well in her surgery and asked if she’d call them back and give them an update later in the week and she agreed.

TnT played an interview with Leon Wilkinson from Lynyrd Skynyrd that they recorded last Friday. Leon was a pretty funny guy and seemed to enjoy his talk with TnT. He didn’t have any idea where he was at the time of the conversation but then again, most band members can’t tell one town from another. Um, the only thing I got from the interview is that Leon likes to wear hats. But TnT seemed to enjoy their time with Leon so I’m sure many of you enjoyed the interview as well.

With Lynyrd Skynyrd (and ZZ Top) coming to town tonight, TnT thought it would be a good idea to give away some tickets to the show. They asked listeners to drop off a paint ball gun and some ammo. Then they sent Slave Boy Chris out to the parking lot with the gun. Once there, TnT asked listeners to stop by the parking lot for a little game. They were going to play “Give Me 3 Steps”. The idea was that contestants would get 3 steps to run away from Chris before he began shooting them with paintballs. They had quite a few contestants and checked in with Chris several times. I think Slave Boy Chris only missed once or twice. He actually seemed pretty precise with the paintball gun. I’m surprised he would touch the thing considering he got blasted in the face with a paint ball about 2 years ago at a TnT function. Anyway, it was a pretty funny bit and TnT hooked up most of the contestants with tickets to tonight’s show.

J Medicinehat called in this morning and talked to the guys for a bit. As always, J had an interesting story to share about his last road trip. This time, the incident took place somewhere in northern Michigan. J said he was at an intersection on a highway when a bear decided to come up onto the road. The bear then proceeded to take a monster crap in the middle of the road right in front of J’s truck. It wasn’t an epic tale to the scale of “Gone With the Wind” but it was a Medicinehat story nonetheless. He’ll be appearing at the Funny Bone for the next two weeks so make sure to call 493-8036 for reservations to see him.

TnT spent some time this morning joking about the good things in Omaha. I believe the reason the topic came up is because someone asked them why they’d stayed in Omaha for so long. I think 6 & ¼ years is a record for both Todd and Tyler to work in one radio market. Anyway, TnT listed off quite a few things about this town of ours that would make it interesting to the outside eye. They took a few calls from listeners who wanted to add various things to the list as well.

Tyler’s girlfriend is out of town so somehow twisting off became a topic. If I recall, the topic came up out of the blue. Tyler said out of nowhere, “Don’t you hate it when you’re twisting one off and the cat’s staring at you?” It was very funny. So the guys spent some time taking calls from both men and women who all agreed that twisting one off in front of an animal is pretty disturbing.

Dr. Ed will stop by and hang out with TnT on tomorrow’s show. Make sure you’ve got your medical questions ready to go. I’m not sure what else will be going on during tomorrow show so make sure to tune in with me and find out.

Well, that’s all I have written for today’s update. Check back here tomorrow for another one. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-

P.S. Ladies, get a hold of Todd and Tyler to reserve your spot in the Pillow Fight Club taking place at the end of the week (hopefully on Thursday).
