TnT Show 11-29-1999

Monday 11-29-99

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by talking about the extended weekend. There was some discussion about the Huskers and with that came talk of the ceremonial flushing of the National Championship that was Friday’s game. 8 Fumbles. Way to go Big Red. TnT also talked about the holiday shopping that always follows Thanksgiving Day. They were sick of the shopping news stories and even sicker of hearing how everyone on the planet is buying things online.

Donnie popped in studio today and told the guys a pitifully redneck Christmas tree hunting story. After some crying about how “Christmas isn’t the same without a cedar tree” and “it’s tradition to get a tree this way” he drug Caller 9 out to some farmer’s land near the river and hacked down a nasty, brown, funky looking tree. When they got it back to their place, the tree was much too large and 9 decided she hated it. The tree is now sitting on the porch and there is a nice artificial tree in its place. Caller 9 is much happier but Donnie must not be because he spent the rest of the show wining like a spoiled child.

Donnie’s story along with the recent Thanksgiving Day holiday prompted Todd and Tyler to open the phone lines for dysfunctional family holiday stories. The guys were looking for tales of families that didn’t get along or stories about having to go to 3 or more places due to dysfunctionality within the family (divorces, separations, daddy cheating on mommy and so forth). There were a few tales relating to the topic but for the most part, listeners turned the show into a “lets tell TnT ‘bout the time weza stold us’a’tree” frenzy.

Speaking of dysfunctional, Travis came in today and told TnT about his horrible trip to Colorado. I won’t detail the whole story but lets just say it involved a broken down car, not having reservations to eat at the hotel, finally eating at a European café for TGD, the room not being finished in time, locked up equipment and talking the locksmith down $35 and a Baker’s-sized liquor store.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and gave a very energetic and funny commentary about people who steal toys from poor children. Larry will be in Omaha on New Year’s Eve doing a couple of shows at the Funny Bone. I suggest you call them early for information and reservations. 493-8036

  • Tyler told Travis to buy a black and white Holstein dildo for his brother’s wife’s Christmas gift.

The guys spent a little time towards the end of the show talking about the World Herald’s 100 famous Nebraskans list. It was kind of pointless and boring and not many listeners were responding to the guys went back to talking among themselves for the remainder of the show.

Todd and Tyler are going to be at Hooters again this evening for another installment of Monday Night Football. There will be declining beer prices, food specials, another Finger Flicking Football contest and much more. Stop on out and catch the guys tonight.

Well, that’s the update for today. Check back tomorrow for the funky white boy Tuesday version (whatever that means). –the Alien Guy-
