TnT Show 12-21-1999

Tuesday 12-21-99

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by thanking everyone who stopped out to the Funny Bone yesterday/last night. They also gave their thanks to the comedians and the folks at the Funny Bone for making it all possible. TnT also talked about the top 10 news stories of the century during Lisa’s newscast and somehow, they started talking about how strange their names would be once they turn 80. I believe that was also in response to something Lisa read in her news cast. Speaking of Lisa, boy oh boy…do I feel sorry for all the single guys out there trying to hook up with her. You poor suckers have got your work cut out for you….

With Christmas coming up, the guys were more than willing to take calls relating to the holiday. Very early in the show, they got a call from a listener who has been seeing a woman for 2 weeks. The caller wanted to know what would be appropriate to give her (considering the relationship just started and they haven’t even had sex yet). With Lisa in studio, TnT smartly thought they’d bring her opinion to the table and try to help the caller out. After all, the topic related and they had their very own in studio woman’s point of view to play off of.

Anyway, other listeners began to check in with gift ideas for the caller or any male wondering what to get his woman. Some of the suggestions were obviously crappy but others seemed good to TnT. Well, Lisa would have none of that. Carrying what seems to be a Sampsonite factory worth of emotional baggage on her shoulders, Lisa began firing off Skuds left and right. Nearly every suggestion that came up reminded her of what some ex-boyfriend had done in the past. Gift certificates and day spa visits were among the ideas that Lisa seemed to hate. TnT really seemed to get a kick out of Lisa’s response to some of the suggestions. After hearing Lisa attack every bright idea Omaha men have come up with for the holiday season, she finally seemed to agree on a few. Lisa’s comments lead me to believe that the only safe bet for a present for your girlfriend/wife would be a sexy CD, a bottle of wine and a candle or two. For the Saunders County listeners, feel free to substitute an “Air Supply” cassette, a bottle of Apple Boons Farm and a couple of road flares in order to reach the same desired effect.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and gave TnT a commentary on last minute Christmas shopping. He threw in a few fart jokes here and there but for the most part, it was a very funny commentary. TnT let Larry know that his new Christmas carols were a hit with the Funny Bone crowd yesterday. He said he’d be doing them again on stage at the Funny Bone on New Year’s Eve so make sure to call and get reservations for that show now. Larry also said he’d be checking in again tomorrow for a final call of ’99. Keep in mind that TnT will not be on the air again until after the New Year following their show tomorrow.

TnT read another installment of the Saunders County Dispatch Report this morning. As usual, the report was full of silly things that wouldn’t normally be newsworthy anywhere else. Such items included reports of people road hunting and illegally dumping as well as multiple “cows in the road” reports. This morning’s reenactment (produced by Show Killer Donnie) was a bit odd. Unlike times in the past in which the reenactment had something to do with one of the items on the Dispatch report, today’s reenactment featured a wooden-legged Witness Protection Program partaking police officer getting car bombed by a “garlic eater”. It lead TnT to ponder whether or not today’s reenactment would be not only the final of the month, year, century and millenium, but also the final reenactment of the Dispatch Report ever.

I just want to make a quick mention of one of the funniest calls I’ve hard to the show in a long time. It came from TnT’s friend Kevin. He checked in this morning and gave TnT a rundown of songs from LL Cool J’s Christmas in the Hood album (or something like that). It was an incredibly funny call and will most likely end up being run as a promo over the holidays. Keep tuned to Z-92 in order to catch it and Kevin, very nice work!

Bee Bee came in studio this morning and performed a very rocking yet subtly sexy version of “Frosty the Snow Man”. I don’t know, maybe it was the fact that the band has 2 female singers that put them at the top of my “auwhhwauahuwhhahauwuh” list. Yes, that’s exactly how it’s spelled… They also did an original tune off of their latest album. Speaking of albums, the band will be having a CD release part at the Ranch Bowl on Thursday night so make sure to stop on out and catch the show.

At one point this morning, TnT got a call from Carl Banks. He and a carload of the comedians from last night’s Funny Bone show were headed to Village Inn for some pancakes (in an attempt to soak up some of the alcohol they consumed last night). Carl, who I really dig normally, wasn’t nearly as big of a pain in the ass to listen to as he was during yesterday’s show. Maybe it was because he was sober or maybe it was because he wasn’t mentally whacking off to Sexy Santas but Carl was actually listenable today. Anyway, the comedians got to Village Inn and played pass-the-phone for a while letting some of the more boisterous comedians talk to TnT and take pot shots at their comedic brethren.

Towards the end of the show, TnT had a surprisingly interesting conversation with Randy Newman. He’s been in the business of making music for 30+ years and has even scored himself Grammy’s and Emmy’s. His latest work was in scoring the last 3 Pixar animation movies including “A Bugs Life”,“Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2” (you know the song, “You’ve Got a Friend In Me”). Well, TnT talked to him about creating music for movies, discussed some of the other songs he’s done over the span of his career and then talked about residual checks and how that whole scenario works out. As I mentioned, it was a ver good interview and I think the quality of the interview even surprised TnT!

Well, that’s the update for today. Yes, it’s much longer than yesterday’s update Todd. You see, I can handle Donnie the Show Killer. I’ve built up a tolerance to him. A drunk, horny, snaking Carl Banks on the other hand was the Terminator of Show Killers and sent me into a mental meltdown until late last night.

Tune in tomorrow for the last Live TnT show of the year. After tomorrow the guys will be on break until after the New Year. TnT will have lots going on tomorrow including a visit from their friends the Fish Heads and much more. Make sure to tune in. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-
