Tuesday 1-18-00

The show started off this morning with Lisa telling TnT about what happened to Travis yesterday. According to Lisa, Travis actually tried to come to work before his “I can’t make it” call yesterday but he slipped on his icy steps and did a header. TnT were suspicious. They thought that if Travis had hurt himself he’d have told Donnie when he called yesterday. Instead, Travis just hung up the phone before going on the air with TnT. Both Todd and Tyler thought that they’d shamed Travis into trying to come to work after he called and said he couldn’t make it and that’s when he slipped. They waited for Travis to come in to get his side of the story.

During the first part of today’s show, the guys discussed a plethora of topics. The main topic that sticks out in my mind revolved around what to call the next two decades. To TnT, it seemed easy to distinguish the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s simply by their title (just as I’ve spelled out). But what are we going to call 2000-2010 and 2010-2020? The callers brought a few ideas to the table such as “the ones”, “the single digits” and later on, “the teens” but none of them really seemed to catch. Finally, Joe from Bluehouse checked in and suggested the “ooze” (that being spelled phonetically) because it would look like “00’s” when spelled out. It sort of stuck and TnT used it throughout the remainder of the show.

TnT offered us a double dose of redneck fun this morning when they read both a Wahoo Crime Report and a Saunders County Dispatch Report. There were reports of road hungers, stolen golf carts, cars driving backwards, grass fires and stolen electrical boxes. Donnie’s reenactment was of the stolen electrical box call. After skipping to his Air Wolf chopper, the officer arrived at the home where the electrical box was stolen. It was then that the officer realized that the person calling in the crime referred to their TV as the “electrical box”. The officer then shot the guy for being a complete moron.

When Travis came in this morning, TnT had him detail his fall. Actually, I think they were looking for flaws in Lisa’s story so they could bust Travis. After hearing Travis’s story, they were a little more lenient on him but still wished he’d have told them about his fall from the start. Maybe they wouldn’t have given him such a hard time yesterday. Well, who am I kidding? They’d have dished it out all the same.

TnT spoke with Lancer coach Mike Hastings this morning. There was plenty of talk about the Vikings loss. They also discussed the Lancer’s upcoming make-up game from when the ice melted a few months ago. Mike also talked to Todd and Tyler about how a lot of smaller cities up north are getting great new hockey arenas built. That comment spawned another bitch session about Omaha and how we’re never going to get an arena.

The guys had a conversation with this week’s Funny Bone headliner Jason Stewart today. They talked a lot about his career, which seemed to be quite full of acting gigs. They joked about Jason’s sexuality and had a lengthy discussion about gay people. The guys also brought up the “Famous person sex list” and asked Jason to give his guys and girls. I don’t think Jason will be in town in time to join TnT in studio tomorrow but he’ll probably end up stopping by the show later in the week. Join TnT at the Funny Bone tomorrow for Z-92 Night. Keep in mind that Dr. Ed will be in tomorrow. TnT are bound to have him give Travis an exam and make sure his head is okay (and to sniff out other flaws in Trav’s “bump on the head” story).
