TnT Show 01-28-2000

Friday 1-28-00

The guys spent the first hour or so of the show talking about news events and their plans for the day. For about the first hour and a half, not much of anything went on. Donnie called from Atlanta but didn’t really have anything, Lisa read some news, the guys talked about their upcoming Super Bowl party and Broom Ball game and there was some Tom Osborne and Dr. John discussion.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary about the President’s State of the Union address. Actually, Larry wrote a State of the Union address speech for Clinton and recited it for TnT. Larry will check in again next week so tune in.

The guys spent some more time this morning calling overseas to get Super Bowl predictions from around the world. A man in Portugal hung up on them because he didn’t “have time for this”. They put in a call to Taiwan and got a hold of some sweatshop or something. The poor folks passed around the phone for about 10 minutes and were totally clueless as to what TnT were trying to do. The Taiwan people were quite nice to TnT even though they didn’t have any idea what was going on. The highlight of today’s overseas calls had to be when TnT called the Dominican Republic. They spoke with a 22-year-old hottie named Karim. She was incredibly cool with TnT and unlike many of the guy’s overseas calls they actually achieved some communication. Basically, the guys fell in love with Karim and invited her to move to Omaha and live in Todd’s basement. The guys got her home phone number and are planning on calling her on Monday morning regardless of whether or not her Super Bowl pick comes through. To tell you the truth, I’ve got no idea who she picked. It really doesn’t matter. She was a hot 22-year-old Dominican chick!

Today was Donnie’s final day of Super Bowl coverage. He checked in from Atlanta several times. Donnie pushed his luck with hotel security all morning long and got kicked out of the front and back of a few places. The highlight of the day was when he flipped off Dan Deardorff. Coming in a closes second was when Donnie got Dick Vermiel to spout out a quick “Hi Todd and Tyler. This is Dick Vermiel”. Yes, that was the extent of the conversation. Late in the show Mike Didka blew Donnie off by telling him to look him up “in a few years” when Donnie asked him for a phone interview. Donnie and Caller 9 are going to be flying out of Atlanta today as long as they don’t get snowed in. If weather permits, he’ll be back in town to join TnT at Hooters on Sunday for the Super Bowl party. With the success of this year’s little trip, I think this might be the final year of Donnie’s Road Trip to the Super Bowl.

Tonight Todd and Tyler will be participating in their 3rd annual Broom Ball Game between the first and second period of the Lancer Game. They spent some time this morning calling various media people to commit them for tonight’s match-up. Jeff Koterba, Mike McKnight, JP Cruise, Aaron Clemens, Jeff Jensen and Rob McCartney all confirmed today. Lisa is also taking part as is Travis who will be taking on the role of a woman for sake of the game. Get on out to the Lancer’s came tonight and catch the Frosty Cocks taking on the Ice Beavers. It should be fun as always. Look forward to details on Monday’s show.

Lancer coach Mike Hastings came in studio for a bit this morning. They discussed all sorts of hockey-related topics. For the most part, Mike’s visit to the TnT show was primarily spent discussing Broom Ball. Get on out to the Lancers game tonight and see the game. If you miss the game tonight, get out to some of the other Lancer games this season. They’re a lot of fun.

Dave Testrot and L.A. Hardy from the Funny Bone came in studio for a bit. They joined in on the topics of the day and seemed to have a good time. Both of them were very funny so I strongly suggest you get out and see them this weekend. Ladies, keep in mind that these two will be doing a Football Widow show on Sunday for all the ladies who’s husbands will be too into the game to care about them. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

Harlan Williams from the Funny Bone also came in studio late in the show. It was rather late when he stopped by because he was out drinking all night at the boats (he won $300 surprisingly). They all spent some time talking about last night’s show. There seemed to be more talk about his “Rocket Man” movie today because some kids came to the Funny Bone last night to get Harlan’s autograph. There was also plenty of love from fans of his other movies like “Half Baked” and “Dumb and Dumber” as well. Many listeners who saw his show last night called in and commented on how great last night’s show was. If there are any tickets left, you need to snatch them up right away. Call 493-8036 pronto otherwise you’ll miss out.

Janglepop came in studio today and played a few songs for TnT. They worked up great versions of “Watch Closely Now” and “21st Century Fox”. After they played those two great tunes, they did an original called “I’m not Leaving”. They sounded really great and I look forward to hearing them on the show again very soon.

Please remember that Todd and Tyler will be at Hooters on Sunday starting at 1pm for the huge Super Bowl Party. D’Vine will hit the stage at about 2pm and the game starts around 5 or something. Look it up.

Well, that’s the update for today. See you Monday for another version. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-
