TnT Show 03-28-2000

Tuesday 3-28-00

Lisa returned to the Todd and Tyler show today so the guys started off discussing the two things that make her world go round: Huskers and firemen. They brought up the fireman/Zack Wieger confrontation that took place in a bar restroom on St. Patrick’s Day. There was discussion of a green sweater, the “Fag” card and piss on the shoes. Of the plethora of stories surrounding the events, no one really knows exactly what happened. But with Lisa back in studio, TnT sure seemed to enjoy talking about the incident.

After yesterday’s discussion about Caller 9 not knowing why the Civil War was fought, the guys thought they’d check in with her today and give her a history quiz. After asking whether or not the USSR was the United States allies or foes in WW2, they had to give her the buzzer because she guessed wrong. The bit may continue over the next few days, as TnT humiliate Donnie’s young girlfriend.

Lisa read an article detailing the 20 lies women tell men this morning. She and TnT stepped through all 20 and discussed them amongst themselves. Throughout the show, the guys tried to bring the listeners into the conversation but they didn’t seem to have much luck. I think the lack of callers was due, for the most part, to the quantity of interviews TnT had. In between the interviews, the guys gave plenty of their own input into the topic but the listeners never did seem to grasp onto the topic. Perhaps they’ll try again some other day.

TnT played the interview they recorded with Jeff Bridges yesterday. They talked about his film career and his love for music. With the help of his friend Michael McDonald, he’s put a record out on his own record label (www.ramprecords.com). They discussed how the CD came about and how Jeff Met Michael. There was a little discussion about his upcoming film called “The Contender” where Jeff will play the President but for the most part, the interview was centered around the CD Jeff was trying to promote. The interview was great and you’ll probably be able to catch it on the Best Of or Vacation shows shortly.

The guys had a conversation with comedian/soap star Walt Willie today. Walt stars as Jackson Montgomery on “All My Children” and has been doing comedy on the side for the last 8 years. He’s coming to the Funny Bone this weekend and will be joining TnT in studio Friday morning. The guys talked to him about his career in soaps and discussed how he got into comedy. Lisa, who nearly wet herself with happiness after finding out he’d be in studio, asked him a few questions as well. Other than the fact that he accidentally hung up on TnT during the interview (he called back), the guy was actually pretty cool. Tune in Friday for more.

Todd and Tyler spoke with former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald today. He’s got a new CD titled “Blue Obsession” that he’s promoting. As mentioned, he recently worked with Jeff Bridges to help him put out his CD. The guys talked with him a little bit about his days with the Doobies, his current projects and more. Lisa asked him if he remembered kissing her on the cheek 25 years ago but he did not. By his own admission, there were a few blurs in his memory from 25 years ago. Not only was he quite cool, but he even got up super early to call TnT. Michael was in Hawaii and called at what would have been around 3am his time specifically to talk to the guys. That interview will probably end up on the Best Of show as well. Keep tuned in.

Towards the end of the show, the guys spoke with Bruce Culick, the former guitar player for KISS. They discussed the big KISS Expo 2000 that’s taking place Sunday at the Holiday Inn Central where his new band Union will be playing. They talked about his days with KISS, what it was like when the original members decided to come back (and, consequently ousted him) and his current band Union who has a former member of Montly Crue in it as well.

Well, that’s all for the update today. The show was basically one interview after another so as far as topics, there didn’t seem to be much. Tomorrow Dr. Ed will be in studio so have your medical questions prepared. Check back here in the afternoon for another update. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-
