TnT Show 04-10-2000

Monday 4-10-00

Todd and Tyler started their show this morning by playing a clip from the “inter-office love” show a month or so ago. I awoke to the clip and was still in the pre-movement lala land. Thoughts of TnT’s upcoming trip to Vegas swirled in my mind and I came to the conclusion that the guys must be on vacation this week. Thinking I wouldn’t have to get up, I snooze-barred and went back to sleep. 7 minutes later, the alarm went off again to the real TnT show. Todd, Tyler, please don’t start the show off with an old re-run clip any longer. If I didn’t need to get up anyway to go to work, I’d have slept right through the show under the pretence that it was a rerun. When the guys actually did start the show, it went off without a hitch (considering the normal news lady and sports guy didn’t bother to show up).

Cindy Andrews from Channel 7 came in studio this morning and covered the News for Lisa. It seems that Lisa went to the Springstien concert in KC last night and was unable to make the 2 and a half hour drive back home in order to make it in to work this morning. Lisa, isn’t the Todd and Tyler show your only paying gig now? You might want to think about giving a damn… Anyway, the guys talked a little TV with Cindy, joking around about how TV does the “live shot” hours after the fact. The guys also tried to help her come up with an idea on what to report about today. They attempted to get her to cover Donnie’s lame ass wrestling thing in the Hooters parking lot today but Cindy said it would be too late to cover. In reality, Cindy most likely realizes how lame, stupid, idiotic, childish and boring it will be to watching two mid 20-year-old guys pretend to beat the hell out of each other in a bar parking lot just so they can briefly bask in the glory of their high school days in some small-ass, backwards, redneck Nebraska high school.

Larry the Cable Guy called in this morning and delivered a commentary about how Bill Gates lost 12 billion dollars in one day. He went over some very funny things he’d do with that much money. Keep in mind that Larry will be coming back to Omaha in mid-June. Stay tuned for more details on his upcoming Funny Bone appearance.

After talking to Cindy about some of the things in the news over the weekend, the guys sort of latched on to a story about a Weeping Water school cafeteria lady who recently got fired from her job. The news story had more to do with the kids at the school who were in trouble with administration for protesting her firing by wearing T-shirts and posting signs. The guys wanted to find out the real story behind the situation so they asked for some calls. The lunch lady, Sue, called the show but said she won’t go on the air tomorrow because she’s waiting to hear what is said about her release at tonight’s school meeting. Later, a student who took part in the protesting checked in and called the principal a “leprechaun”. The guys also got a few calls from Weeping Water parents supporting and not supporting the teacher. Todd and Tyler will follow up on the story tomorrow.

During the discussion of the Weeping Water lunch lady, someone mentioned how she always had a smile for the kids and provided good service. The topic began to morph into a discussion about how terrible the food service industry is in Omaha. Part of the reason for the transition in topics was because Tyler had a bad experience with a restaurant just this weekend. He, without naming the establishment, told us about how the waiters were arguing over whom should take care of Tyler’s table. From there, the floodgates opened up and countless listeners called in with their own takes on the food service industry. Many listeners wanted to bitch about terrible service but some checked in to talk about good experiences they have had. On the other side of the note, waiters and waitresses checked in to give their opinions of some of the customers they’ve had to deal with in the past. It turned out to be a very good topic that lasted through the entire show.

Travis, like Lisa, was also not in town today. He, for some reason, felt the need to fly to LA for a Lakers game. Travis, why? Because you got tickets to the game from some lame ass ex-player that no one’s ever heard of? Where’s your commitment Travis? Todd and Tyler are there every day of the week so why is their sports guy not? Donnie sat in Travis’s place this morning and provided us with a sports report. He did a fine job doing so as well. So fine, in fact, one might begin to question the necessity of one Travis Justice. Donnie may be a parking lot wrestling neck, but at least he’s there every day.

Todd and Tyler will be out at Hooters tonight watching the debacle that is Donnie and Jeremy wrestling. If you’re a neck or just in need of a good laugh, stop on out and see it. TnT will surely be discussing it on tomorrow’s show. That’s all for today’s update. Check back here tomorrow for the Tuesday version. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-
