| Straight Pimpin ![]() | TnT Show 04-14-2000 Friday 4-14-00 Todd and Tyler started this morning’s show talking about the Dr. John court case. They seemed to get a kick out of the fact that the only person who wasn’t required to but did stay in the court room yesterday while Banged Beach Blondes was being viewed by the jury was a guy from Omaha for Decency. The guys also spent a little more time making fun of Tubby Grogan quitting the political race a few days ago. Today was another installment of Big Beefy Friday. Gene from the Brass Grille (1207 Harney) came in studio and cooked up a few nice, juicy New York strips to taunt Travis with. Next week will be the final BBF and the guys are thinking about getting Weeping Water’s Lunch Lady Sue to come and help Gene do the grilling on Bad Friday. At about 7am, Todd had to leave to go take care of some personal business. When that was mentioned, I swear I heard a collective grown of discomfort from the city of Omaha as all TnT listeners realized that would leave an open mike for Donnie to use. Things turned out pretty well, however, because Tyler, Lisa and today’s comedian guest Greg Morton helped keep Donnie from overstaying his welcome. In reality, Donnie did a fine job of sitting in for, not replacing, Todd. Todd will be back on Monday morning to regain control of the phone system. Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and gave a commentary that was all about supporting Ted Nugent. Surprise! Larry the neck supporting Ted the neck. Big shocker. Stay tuned for more calls from Larry next week. The guys got their hands on some Nine Inch Nails tickets and thought they’d give them away to a listener who was willing to do something a little drastic. The idea was to send the listener to the truck stop and have him ask truckers to shower with him. The volunteer was a big guy named John who met Slave Boy Chris at the truck stop. He went around to various truckers throughout the show asking them if they wanted to shower with him. None of the truckers would accept his offer but that wasn’t nearly as funny as John’s responses to the declines. He kind of seemed bummed out that no one wanted to shower with him. The closest he got all day was when a truck driver offered up the use of his blow up doll. By the end of the show, John had been declined by about 10 truckers, had avoided getting the crap beat out of him, got the phone number of the ”Inflate-A-Mate” and won the tickets and $92. Greg Morton from the Funny Bone came in and hung out today. He really seemed to get a kick out of the “…you’re gay” and “Two weeks” Big Voice Guy clips. Later in the show when the Dr. John trial and Arena issue were mentioned, Greg couldn’t believe how the town seemed to be acting. Greg seemed to believe, and rightfully so, that Omaha needs an arena and porno! Greg was a pretty funny guy so make sure you catch him at the Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036 for reservations and information. Janglepop came in studio late in the show and played a great cover of “Chevy Van”. Afterwards, they also did an original tune. They sounded great and you can catch them tonight at the Music Box. Because of the memories Janglepop’s cover of “Chevy Van” spawned, the last 45 minutes of the show was spent talking about the 70’s vans and van clubs. They took a bunch of calls from people who wanted to talk about their vans and van memories from high school in the 70’s. Greg talked about being the “the Crazy DJ” and having the van to prove it. Tyler talked about memories of the “heads” in his school who used to step out of the van in a smoke of bong smoke. There were some great stories about vans from the listeners who called in as well. That’s it for the Friday update. We’ll see you back here Monday. Thanks for watching. Goodnight. –the Alien Guy-
