Friday 5-5-00

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by wishing everyone a happy May 5th (  Please imagine that in Spanish). They talked a little bit about the dynamics of the Mexican holiday and the Mexican jumping bean. They also took some time to discuss some letters in the Barely a pulse. It seems that, more often than not, the paper is full of idiot anti-arena people who try to make a point against the arena but fail miserably. TnT also took it upon themselves to call Mayor Daub’s home phone number multiple times this morning. They left him several humorous voice mail messages about whatever they happened to be discussing at the moment. Later in the show, Hal actually returned their calls and talked to the a bit longer on the air about the issues brought up during yesterday’s show.

Lisa’s List this morning was comprised of the top 10 puke scenes in movies. I must admit, as disgusting as the list sounds, it was a far better list than yesterdays. If you missed my rant about yesterday’s list, check it out again. Anyway, TnT took a little time to make their guesses and then opened the phone lines for listeners to participate as well. Completion of the list didn’t take long with the caller’s help. Tune in again Monday for another List from Lisa.

The Untamed Shrews came in a little before 8am and made Travis blush within 6 seconds of their arrival. They also completely through off Larry the Cable Guy when he called. It’s just not going to be possible for me to detail all that the Shrews did on the show today but if you’ve ever heard them on the show or seen their act, it was much the same. To wrap it up as easily as possible, they were pushy, horny, loud, rude, obnoxious, interruptive, annoying and very funny. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on the planets being lined up. As I mentioned, the Shrews wouldn’t shut the hell up during Larry’s call so I have no idea if it was a funny commentary or not. Tune in again Monday when Larry (and the show mojo) won’t be so distracted.

Someone called into the show this morning and said they spotted a guy spray painting the TnT and Build It Omaha arena signs around 96th & Q Street. Prize Lady Barb swung by there on her way in and spotted a guy standing by one of the sings in that area. She yelled at him and he left. After that, another caller checked in and said he’d seen it happen also. Donnie jumped into his car and set off to find the criminal. It’s illegal to spray paint those signs because it’s a defacing public property. Donnie checked in a few times on the road and finally spotted the guy at 120th & Q Street. Our favorite neck was pulsing with adrenaline, having not wrestled skinny guys in a parking lot lately, so he jumped out of the car and confronted the guy. Donnie yelled at him and tried to get him to go on the air but the guy just got in his car and drove away. At that point, Donnie got back in his car and followed him. A description of the car was given but no license plate. Actually, the guy didn’t have a license plate or “In Transit” stickers. Not only was he defacing public property by spray painting signs but he was also driving an illegal car! Donnie never did catch up to him again so he turned around and came back to the station.

Star 69 made it in studio towards the end of the show and played a few tunes for TnT. They sounded excellent! You can catch them at the Arena Bar (formerly the Reo) tonight and tomorrow night. Stop on out and see them. They’re a great live band (and the singer’s the hottest grandma I’ve ever seen).
